I just ordered 2 Tula manufactured, Hex Receiver M91-30 Mosin Nagant Rifles. They really look nice on their website, and come with all matching numbers, bayonet, "Dog Collar" style sling, tools, tool pouch & ammo pouch. The muzzles are not counterbored, and they don't have any electro pencil marks on them. I splurged and paid the extra $10.00 each for hand select. I was going to buy one from one of the local shops here in town last year but didn't. Classic Arms does have really nice ones.

Anyone own and shoot Mosins? I didn't order any ammo because I think I can do better around here. I'll avoid the shipping, but I'll have to eat the tax. Classic wanted $99.95 for a 440 round sealed tin. Not too bad. They're supposed to go out tomorrow so I should have them by next week some time. Bill T.

I bought my AK and others from them. Good people, family owned business. +1
-
I have Deepwaters stored here. Real beauty. Bought it from SOG. $79 + 10 hand pick, comes with oiler, sling and bayonet. 83.60 for 440 rounds.
-
I have the carbine..... Its kinda fun, but I dont ever really have any actual use for it. The safety sucks donkey balls. Ammo is cheap and ballisticly its just about the same as .308/30.06
-
Picked one up for 80 at a gun store. Got ammo from cheaper than dirt at aroud 89 bucks. Not a bad gun for the price.

Okay, it's time for a little enlightenment. WTF is the appeal of these things? I mean, I guess that I can see a little historical draw, but other than that, what? I'm usually able to see most sides to an issue (that doesn't mean that I agree with them) but I'm totally lost on this one. Clue me in, please.

they are great guns, accurate and good range. I have the hex Reciever MN 91/30 and love it. besides, at this price you can't pass it up. good for hunting, plinking, or revolutions. when I recieved mine it looked as if it had never been fired, wood in excellent condition, no scratches or wear and a light coat of cosmoline. beautiful gun.

Its the price and quality. Look, I am as pro-American as anyone, particularly when it comes to guns. We've done more for fire arms development than any other nation. BUT, when it comes to a SHTF weapon? Idiot proof, indestructible and good enough? The Russians win hands down. If I were planning a "Mad Max" rather than a "Red Dawn" scenaio? I'd own a Moisin. Hell, take the $1200 you don't spend on mags, optics, cleaning supplies ( ;D) etc. and you've got enough ammo that your grandkids will still be shooting your stash.
FQ13 who sometimes wishes he was right handed.

They are cheap and fun to shoot. I have one I brought back from Vietnam. Some pecker-head tried to shoot me and a few of my friends with it. He didn't need it anymore.

Mosin Nagant....................... $100.00
Case of 440 Rounds..................$85.00
Bottle of Windex........................$3.00
Total.....................................$188.00
Where else can you go high powered rifle shooting for under $200.00? It's not "priceless", but it's about as close to it as you're going to get. Bill T.

Deepwater
A full case of 10 will run you just under $1,000.00. Pretty hard to beat. 1, AR-15 or 10, Mosins. What would you rather face in a SHTF scenario? Bill T.

A piece of history, that continues to be a "one shot stop" shooter, a versatile club, bayonet sticker, and you can hose it off, clean it with transmission fluid and motor oil, reload and keep firing with 40 year old ammo.

That's deepwaters rifle, and an admiring shooter. ;D
P.S. it's a "Man's" bolt action,....weak hands, limp-wristing, won't work with this rifle...
Only 2 billt? ;)

Lets just make it perfectly clear, Mosin Nagants rough, ready, retard friendly and just might out live some of us.
-
Just one problem...no place to shoot the damn thing! Neighbors might get a bit edgy ifn I shot it in the back yard!

BAD. BAD. ALL OF YOU.
I went to the Classic Arms web site. I put one in my shopping cart along with a tin of ammo. $200! Came within in inches of hitting the "checkout" button. Even told my wife and she enthusiastically said, "Go for it."
But it's not in the master plan for my gun collection......darn.....I don't need it......don't look at the porn.....must keep eyes on the prize.
SO, I spent the money on more bullets and on a sight adjustment tool.
But then there's a small gun show in town coming up and.............................. BAD BAD ALL OF YOU.
-
BAD. BAD. ALL OF YOU.
but, but,... it comes with it's own cleaning rod,....bayonet, you can get cheap ammo for it, and it will put a two or four legged creature down.
Like a Ruger 10/22.....everyone should have one, and 100 rds. Russian's made Moisin's from a desperate reliability standpoint. They just work.
Oh,....didn't mean to contribute to the delinquency of a gun lover.... ::)

I can see it now... blame it on deepwater. why not, everyone else does. ;) in fact, as I'm sure it will happen anyway, get the Mosin!!!! don't hold back, you will regret it...

true, but I have noticed a gradual increase, (including from Haz) in blaming deepwater. maybe it's contagious and I've been infected by Haz. (Ijust realized I can blame Haz for this ;D )

I hope you like them! If I were right handed, I'd own two as well. One left alone as a piece of history. The other? Cut to 16" to 20" as a truck/swamp hog gun. Yeah it would detract from ballistics, but at 30-75 yards? Who cares? It will get the job done in a disposable rifle with cheap ammo. A good purchase and I look forward to a range report (including your cleaning protocol, if any ;D).

ALF, get the Mosin, you won't be sorry. Great, fun, shooter, cheap to buy, cheap to shoot and has a PIG STICKER with it. Ya gotta have at least one!
And YES, it's my fault! ;) (at least ya can tell the wife that!)
;D

How sharp are the points on the bayonets? Will they require "Honing"? My thinking is the use of this thing as a Javelin when I run out of ammo in a "crucial" situation. ;D Bill T.

It's a triangle type. Not sharp at all. (But illegal according to the Geneva Conventions ;) ) It is also a flat tip screw driver!
-
Billt - Post lots of porn!
I'm going to blame you, but I've got the C&R out, made a couple calls last night, and if I can pick up some weekend hours in the truck ... it will be all your fault ;)

At least DeepWater and Haz get a break. ;D I really want one for a swamp gun. Something purely disposable and cut down to Everglades ranges that will fit behind the truck seat or in the skiff. Still, I don't deal well with RH bolts, so it will be a 590, an SKS or a lever gun. :'( But damn, you'd be a fool not to buy one and a bunch o'ammo at these prices. Its like the Norinco Chinese AKs and $.10 a round ammo that were on offer in the early 1990's. Its not a deal that will last forever.

I've been known to buy a Mosin...or two...or three.

Mine is a pretty damn sharp " flat head screwdriver", a good thrust will pierce clothing and flesh for sure....
install it, with a light coating of oil, or you'll be using channel-locks to get the darn thing back off..
I've been known to buy a Mosin...or two...or three.
Almost like the Norinco SKS's back in the day, $99 a piece, right from the crate. Should have gotten a "six-pack" of them.. :-\
I can see the need for more than one.

I tipped a box upside down to get the bayonet out and had my hand there to catch it.............big mistake, lots of blood.
Some are a lot sharper than others.
-
The tips are sharp but I meant the actual 'blades'. They are not sharp at all.

Yes, I agree.

What good is a gun without a bayonet?
-
What good is a gun without a bayonet?
Plus, it's an "old school" multi-tool, flat head, has recessed channels to "withdraw" the bayonet from a target, and it's long enough to beat somebody with the locking end... ::)
Russian epitomized the durability out of desperation weaponry. It's not pretty, but the darn thing will work.
