If you click on the banner at the end of the video, Mercedes has an interactive video about the car, and how it was built. Bill T.

OOOOOOOOOHHHH, me wanna try that!
-
They DID come up with a sweeeet looking car there!

The AMG has always had a well deserved reputation , before the twin turbo 12 cylinder came out, they made naturally aspirated 600's that would do 180, and cruise at 150 with 4 passengers and the a/c on. This coupe is SWWWWWWEEEEEEETTTTT

Nice stunt.
It's no C-111 but it will do in a pinch.
;)

Very cool. I particularly like the fact that it redlines at 8,000 rpms ;D ::). Still, gull wing doors? Where the hell do you park the thing? Not that you'd want to, but it would be nice if you could actually, you know, drive it somewhere without taking up three spots and getting keyed, or parallel park close to a high curb and actually get out of the car. ::)

Side clearance is less with gull wing doors and any decent performance car will have a low ground clearance making curbs something to avoid.
And any noticeable car is going to get keyed.
I have long since stopped wringing my hands over the cosmetics of the cars I drive. I love the performance and it is great if they look nice, but the looks don't last and torturing yourself over them is pointless.
A four wheel drift in a tight turn at 60mph on a decreasing radius enterance ramp is more of a rush than looking at a car can ever be...but looking gets real close sometimes. ;D ;D

The Mercedes SLS AMG is also the current Formula 1 Safety Car driven by Bernd Maylander. It really puts a realistic perspective on just how fast Formula 1 cars are. When there is an accident in Formula 1, and the safety car is deployed, Maylander is pushing it as hard as he can. In spite of that, and how fast the SLS AMG is, it looks like the cars are crawling in rush hour traffic in comparison to actual race speeds. The SLS AMG replaced the SL 63 AMG as the New F-1 Safety Car this year.

This is Nico Rosberg, Michael Schumacher's teamate on the Brawn Mercedes F-1 Team, driving the SLS AMG Safety Car at the new Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dahbi.

This is the "older" SL 63 AMG being driven by Maylander at Phakisa Raceway in South Africa. Bill T.

Reminds me of that Toyota commercial where the truck was attacked by the Loch Ness monster.

Technically, what Schumacher did is a roll, not a loop.
Just sayin' . . . . .

Yeah yeah. On a related note, does it include a barf bag for the passenger? ;D

If I would have said "roll", everyone would have thought he wrecked it. Bill T.

Correct. Actually it was a Barrel Roll. A roll is more like flipping the car

Yeah, I know...there's a 50-50 argument all over the net on whether it's real or not.
I ain't saying it is or isn't possible per say, but without getting all drawn out, some of the physics and the tunnel layout don't add up in my mind....that's all.
-
I just don't see the upside of Mercedes or Schumacher attaching themselves to something that was fake. Both have more money than God, and nothing to prove. I'm not saying it couldn't have been, but I just don't see any advantage to it. Every time a spectacular video appears on You Tube, the "truthers" manage to come out of the wood work. It gets repetitive, right down to the "shadows" on the cones. The same argument was used with the Lunar Lander. Bill T.

All true, but so far Mercedes has neither denied nor admitted the validity of the video. Looks like with as much doubt, they would have something to say about it. Of course, as long as they keep the mystery going, it's good advertisement for them, I guess.
Like I said, I ain't saying 100% that it didn't happen, just that by using the curvature of the tunnel for momentum, the physics of lateral force would reverse at the top of the tunnel and the tunnel would have to be curved the opposite direction on the downside to keep the car stuck to the surface. The curve compounds the momentum of force in one direction meaning the car would have to overcome that force to go on around. It would be more believable if the tunnel were straight all the way.
I may be wrong and this is just purely an opinion....YMMV.
