Lets do a little math shall we.
I gave the wife a $100 to go watch friends kid play foot ball, She need cash and was running late. The only cash I had was 100s
Its $5 to get in, Figure $20 for food/drink max.
How is it I only get $15 buck back?
Its not the money, I don't care about the money, but where did it go? If she put gas in her car, thats fine, but where did the ~$60 go?
-
All women.....especially married women, have a slush fund.....usually kept in an old purse hanging in the closet.....or a jacket pocket.

-
You are trying to get me in trouble arn't you?
I'm pretty sure it went for gas. which is fine, I just would like to know where it went.
-
Never get caught looking for the location of the slush fund.
And, if you ask where the money went, be prepared for anything.
-
relationships have to be built on trust, if you can't trust each other with small stuff, you can't trust them with big stuff.
I have not talked to her about it yet. She came home, droped the "change" on the kitchen table, got changed and went to work. She could have made a mistake and not given it all too me, but I bet it went to gas...
20 gallon tank, figure 17-18 gallons needed to fill it up x $3.50 a gallon = $60.
-
.The only cash I had was 100
Gee, that sounds rough! ;D
-
I love being paid in cash... ;D
-
Even if it gets in your craw, never sweat the small stuff, just not worth it. IHMO.
-
Newly weds sheesh.
Tab, THERE IS NO CHANGE you should be stunned that you actually got $15 back.

Wise words. Push it, and you'll cheerfully pay the $65 to get out of the ensuing argument. Repeat after me; "Yes dear". ;D

but after the argument comes great make up sex.
;)

You'll just have to "trust" that whatever she did with it is fine. $100 is a small price to pay to avoid any potential argument. Admission, food, gas, maybe snacks for her and her friends may have all cost $85.
-
Forgedaboudet! At least she didn't get it out of your pocket while you were asleep!!!!!

Here's a thought......
ASK HER!

Enjoy it while it lasts because it doesn't last long.
-
If she had taken her money to the game and only returned with $15 out of $100, you would not have noticed. And I'd guess you figure what she "wastes" her money on is her business... and she likely has the same attitude towards your spending.
It doesn't sound like she is in a position where she would have to "snitch" small change from you for what she wants to blow it on.
And you are right about trust, TAB, so I think you are just curious about what she might find worth $60 on a trip to a neighborhood football game

That's assuming your wedding tackle is still operational after the argument.

Enjoy your newlywed status. After a few years it moves to this...........................................................

THREAD DRIFT WARNING!!!!!!!!

I am no expert, but being married for 23+ years last October 9th, it gives me a little insight.
Question is she wearing a new pair of shoes or boots?
If no have you checked the closet or the trunk of the car?
If the new shoes arent there then it means that she is squirrelling away more money for a really expensive pair of shoes, be prepared for more mystery math lessons.
If it has nothing to do with shoes its probably gas.
Odds are its shoe related.
PS
Shoes are the drug of choice for women, the more uncomfortable the better.

Having been married for close to 30 years, here's my take on your situation, dude. Let it go. You're still getting laid on a regular basis, no reason to live out the following cartoon over something as trivial as a c-note.

I should clarify that in my original posts, I was advocating a 'let it go' view towards the money in question. I was merely pointing out learned things that women do and to just let them do it.
Be glad you got $15 back and move on.

You KNEW I couldn't stay out of this .. I tried. really I did. :-X . can't do it any longer.. :D :D
But I mean.. come on~~~~
Seriously Tab??!!?? I mean.. you are actually taking the time to stew about what she did with 60 measly dollars? If all you had in your wallet were hundreds? excuuuuse me.. ? Did she have to shake the mold off the bill or watch the moths fly out when you handed her one?
Let me give you a small amount of advise.. If you are getting your panties in a tight wad over this little tidbit..and plan to be part of the Hardy Boys investigative team on finding out.. and start throwing the "trust" word out..( over $60 ?) let me give you a hint...
ask her.. but make light of it.. joke about it.. Like" Crap~~ is this all I get back out of my C-note? Dang... Bet you booked a cruise with all that left over money huh..." ( or something like that)
Spoken like that.. you will have no problem.. She will most likely laugh and tell you..
Start acting like an FBI agent going suspicious.. and you will have a handful on your hands..wouldn't be pretty.......
(Anyway~~ that is... if you were married to me) .. which your not.. ;) ( be forever thankful ) LOL
So>> its been a few days.. tell us what the outcome was..and how you handled it..
I'm truly interested to know..
But STILL appalled that it matters that much to you to spaz out on it..
**walking off shaking my head muttering to myself.. $60 bucks? Does HE want to report every single dime HE spends? I mean ..maybe there is a joint mini computer we women could just carry in our purse so every single penny is calculated and reported back to the "wanna be master of the House" then there won't be any frothing of the mouth over where the money goes.. ::)**
((Can you tell I've been married a long long long long time)) ;D
~~And Tab.. I'm just giving you shit you know..Playing with you a little bit ( with the undertone of 100% truth attached) ;) I'm an old old hand and this .. say a prayer tonight that it isn't me you are married to. .".. Say another one for poor Marshal who is... hahahaha ;D ;D ;D
-
Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep if I should die be fore I wake it will be that damn iron skillet that she uses to make sure. LET IT GO ROOKIE.
-
I didn't see this mentioned but checking the gas gauge should be pretty easy. If it's still on "E", move straight for the firearms! Bill T.
-
I really don't think TAB is all that concerned about her spending the money or what she spent it on...just curious what event prompted a $60 expenditure to/from a ball game.
She is a Doctor and I'd guess she could be stashing away all she wanted for what ever she wanted and TAB knows that and does trust her...it is more a question of the thought process.
-
I was right, it went into the gas tank.
Didn't have to ask her, she told me in the morning.
I work very hard for every penny I make.
Trust me we are not as well off as you think we are.
our net worth is some were around 700k, in the negative.( most of which is student loans.)
the payment on her student loan is about 8k a month. 14k in change in gross a month and only brings home $31XX. After you add in all the exps of being a doctor, she only nets like 2k a month.

When I was dating a trauma surgeon, I tried to sell her on dermatology. Low malpractice (no one ever died from a zit), sane hours (the pimple can be dealt with between 10 and 6.), and anyone who can afford to see you has insurance. Somehow, it didn't take. ;D Understood that most docs are stuggling till they're 10-15 years out of school just to repay the loans. :P

getting your degree at stanford, then going to stanford medical school all on loans is not cheap. about 600k when she got out.

I've never been a fan of big government, but this is absurd. Telling the best and brightest that they will work insane hours from the age of 18 till 30, and then hit fifty before they can afford to buy a house when they are providing a socially useful service is idiotic. Here, BO, Clinton, National Service etc makes sense. Commit to four years of clinical work in underserviced areas and we'll pay for your schooling. We get good doctors, you don't start out burdened by crippling debt, the poor get healthcare without socialized medicine, and its a win-win for everyone. Note how many H1B visas we are giving out to foriegn docs for the VA, and how hard the AMA tries to restrict new med schools. Established Docs win, and med students and the public lose. Sometimes throwing tax dollars at a problem makes sense. We pay for school, you give us four years of low salaried service. That seems like money well spent.

a big chunk of that did come from the goverment.
medical school was a hair under 100k a year.
what irks me about the deal is her father was the one that pushed her to go to medical school.( he is a pharmacist that deals with raido active stuff) He could have paid her way as he makes ~ 300k a year, but no he had to be a ass and not pay.
I understand not paying if you can't aford it or if the kid is a slacker etc, but that was not the case here. he could have, but didn't. He does not like me very much, but my mother in law loves me.

Probably not an option for you or your wife, but... there is always the NHS or, say the Air Force. Now that you are out of business, if you are willing to travel, well, Uncle Sam will cut a sweet deal for anyone with an MD behind their name to sign on the dotted line and take the King's shilling.

The prob is, she is still in training. If she had gone to a diffrent line of medince, that would have worked. She still has 4-5 years of more training before they let her cut on her own.
Now the VA is a option, but I kind of doubt she will get the training like she is now. The guy she is working under now is one of the best guys at repairing hands in the world.( and has a god complex to match, yeah I'd love to kick his ass and I've only met him a few times.)
-
Surprise surprise, I have several comments,
First, M'ette, You have it all wrong, He needs to confront her about this, "Where the hell is my other $60".
But do it while wearing a plaid duster and Deer stalker cap, and while peering at her (one eyed of course ) Through a 14 inch magnifying glass. Maybe phrase it more like, "I say Watson, where's me bloody cash."
;D
Tab, I realize that slackers don't get accepted to med school, so the Father had no excuse, but good lord, there are some real azzholes coming out of Med schools. My Cardiologist is one for sure, He has made some statements that contradict what Dr's I do trust have said, (Not to mention my personal experience ) and he looks like Woody Allen.
FQ, Will you NEVER "get it". Govt. meddling like you suggest is exactly why health care is so expensive . and the details listed here ain't crap, wait till the Govt "fix" kicks in, The dead will get better treatment than the living, cuz the living will last longer before they start to stink.
NHS ? Those are the folks who allegedly care for Indians on the Res, It's criminal, research it.
No matter how good it sounds govt involvment only makes things worse.
The only effective way to do anything is to get off your azz and do it yourself, if you can't, tough, die.
Even sperm have figured that one out.

its not med school, its after they have been a doctor for awhile they get that "I contorl life and death" mind set. thats when it gets bad.
Like I said the guy she works under is a real POS, with god complex. Let me put it this way, when times were tough last year and I was not turning down work. He wanted me to repaint one of his rentals, I would not even give him a price, kept saying I could not do it as I had too much work.
For those that don't know, painting rentals are like a cash register for me. Its litterly ring the bell and collect the money. normally about a ~$500/day net.

Says a lot. sounds like a real piece of work. I do not envy Mrs. Tab one bit dealing with one of those.

Its a hazard of life.
There are four types of assholes:
1) Those that think they are as good as what they own.
2) Those that think they are as good as what they believe in.
3) Those that think they are as good as what they do for a living.
4) Those that think they are as good as their great-great grandaddy's.
All four scare the crap out of me and I don't trust any of them. :P

Gosh...trying to figure out which one I am.
1. All I own is a 10 year old car and the personal stuff in the house I live in.
3. Been unemployed/retired for almost 2 years.
4. I've never met or heard any stories about my great-great- grandaddy.
I guess that leaves #2. I'm a Libertarian....I guess I'll have to go with that.

And don't forget, even when doctors finally do get around to earning it, they have a hell of a time collecting it. My last Primary Care guy sold his practice along with his partner and both took jobs working for a company that provides doctors who "fill in" for practicing physicians who are taking extended vacations, etc. They get a paycheck every week without all of the hassle of dealing with insurance companies, and the system.
Back when we lived in Lake Havasu City, Arizona our Primary Care doctor was a 62 year old woman. She told me she had to hire 2 girls full time who's only job is to try and shag money she is owed out of insurance companies. They simply don't want to pay. She told me she has an average of 180 days from submission of billing to payment with most insurance companies. Her comment was, "They'll all pay eventually, the problem is eventually we'll all be dead!"
It was so bad her son who was an excellent student, wanted to go into medical school. You would think it would have been a perfect set up for him. He could walk right in and take over his mothers well established practice when she retired. She told him to stay out of medical school. She agreed to pay for whatever education he wanted, and sell the practice and use the money to help set him up in business, be it law or whatever he chose. Just as long as it didn't involve medicine! That tells you point blank where the medical profession is headed in this country. At that all took place in the late 90's.
My Primary Care doctor told me just a few months ago, right after Hussein Care passed, that if and when it goes into full gear, he is seriously thinking about of getting out of the medical profession. His wife owns and operates a ritzy day spa just down the street from his practice. He told me he'll most likely sell his practice and use the money to expand her business and help run it. Some doctors don't have these kind of options avaliable to them. They're stuck in a bad profession that is quickly getting worse, and can't get out because of the ton of debt it took to get there in the first place. Talk about a vicious cycle! Bill T.
