When a community comes together, especially for the death and funeral of a Soldier from their town. Those loons at Foxboro Baptist Church, didn't have the belly to wave their "God Loves Dead Soldiers"...this time.

This was posted in the "comments" section of the article. It seems to make sense. I've always wondered who funded these guys. Now we know. They don't give a hoot about any of this. They are like the guys who run into your car in traffic and then sue you for hitting them. Do something outrageous, then sue when someone or some civil authority infringes on their rights. Its kind of like the Koran burning pastor. He went from a small time cult leader to the talk of the world, just by threatening to do something outrageous. Only difference is Phelps is getting paid. These aren't protests, they're business trips. And extortion.... >:(

Quote from the OP
GAVINJOHN at 12:42 PM November 07, 2010
As a human being, I am always wondering, why would Fred and his followers be so misguided and outspoken with such silly beliefs. As a former Marine, I envision my own snese of what I would do if faced with these fools, and as a brother of a fallen Marine, I know that would land me in the pokey. As a citizen of the US, although in very poor taste and low class, I belive their right to protest is sacred, but there should be some sort of distance they need to be from a service. I really wanted to understand why and how are they able to travel around to these funerals. Don't they have jobs? Who pays the expenses? So I decided to do a little online research and found out some interesting things. Fred has no followers. he has family members as his congregation and this is nothing more than a family "business". He has a few relatives who are low life attorneys who make a living sueing anyone who assaults them or infringes on their rights. They have sued police departments, cities, individuals and so on. They do these outrageous "protests" and hope someone gives them a reason to sue. They apparently divide the proceeds and this is their livelihood. This protest seems to be averted pretty cleverly but beware to future counterprotesters.

Seems small community justice can extend to a good ol' fashioned lynching also.....after all, it's just some "lowlife lawyers" and a scumbag....
This country is polarized enough, and an ass kicking cannot be far off for these vermin. They may have a right to do it,.....but from 1500yds away seems reasonable, and should be ordered by the idiot that granted the permit.
-
I agree that a good country fried ass whipping is the cure for what ails these sick bastards. Glad these folks can show some restraint. If I happened along there would be a laying on of hands. Not the healin' kind neither.
-
I'd love for them to come after me... I have nothing of any real value in my name...
I have basicly 2 cars, both worth less then a grand. I personally own nothing else...
;D
I like how they had people coming from all over, inculding CA and NZ... I think that says alot.
-
Walling them off behind American flags is an awesome idea. there only options are give up or try to move the folks holding the flags, unless they have really bad gas they can't do that with out opening themselves to assault charges ;D
then of course no one can see what happens either ;D
" He must have been drunk, he kept falling on his face." ;D

The key to countering their actions is to create a peaceful barrier between the family and the group. No physical contact and no shouting or chanting. Patriot Guard will only use the sound of engines if the chanting of the group gets too loud, but as a rule it is a silent honor guard.
If anyone countering their protests reacts in like manor or with violence the protesters win the round.
Restraint is the name of the game!

Turn about is fair play.
Stage protests every Sunday at Westboro Baptist Church.
They carry signs about "God loves dead soldiers" ? Answer with signs saying God likes the safety and Freedom they defend for him"
Granted that's a little long, how about "hate is not a family value in MY family Rev. Phelps" ;D

Sadly it doesn't work with these guys. A little history here. These guys started this in the '90s protesting at the funerals of AIDS victims flashing tasteful signs like "Your Son Is Rotting in Hell Like He Rotted in Life" or my personal favorite "Now He's Satan's Bitch". >:( ??? The peaceful barrier thing came when they protested Matthew Shepard's funeral and a group of students (I don't know if they were gay or not) dressed in giant angel suits and surrounded them. It should have given a Christian pause. Sadly, thats not what we are dealing with. 18 year old angels didn't work and I doubt vetrans with American flags will either. These folks are getting paid. I think a chorus of "Let's All gather At the River" (I'll bring the logging chain), might be in order.

M58 is wrong, unattributable personal violence works much better.
Hard to hold a sign when "Unidentified masked men" have broken your arms and legs .
Makes you think twice about pissing off folks you don't know too, ask Jake Jablonski about it, or Jimmy Hoffa, or any of the people paying "protection" to gangs.

yeah becuase every one that contracted aids got it from sin... ::)
Now I know a few people that did contract it from "sin", I also know 2 that got it from thier husband/wife that was cheating on them.

I don't knowingly know any one with AIDS but I had 2 buddies who contracted Hepatitis from blood transfusions during the first Gulf war, both were 10 years younger than me and both are now dead.
-
Sorry to strongly disagree boys, but I speak from experience!
It is the way we do it when requested by the families to stand honor at visitation, funeral and/or burial.
Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement
The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.
We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.
Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:
1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.
We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.
To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all
Perhaps there is a difference because of the appearance of the Riders, but for some reason it works.

I'd be very shocked if you don't know anyone with HIV/AIDS. Lots of people do a very good job of hiding it.
-
M58,
I respect what the Patriot Guard does, I think you guys are awesome for passing on the condolences of all Veterans to grieving families that we as individuals may never even hear of. My posts have been mostly in jest, however there is a solid grain of truth in the jest.
Dr. Martin Luther King worked for Civil rights through peaceful protest, sort of.
When he planned a march he knew that there was a high probability that they would meet with violence along the way.
Also, the "Peaceful protests" benefited from the associated violence of groups like the original Black Panther Party, every march, every speech, carried the implied threat "You can deal with us in the Courts, or you can deal with them in the streets."
I'd be very shocked if you don't know anyone with HIV/AIDS. Lots of people do a very good job of hiding it.
I'm not acquainted with any one who is openly Gay. I have 2 cousins who are but I have not seen either of them in years

You are right M58, but lord these pharisees piss me off. It would be bad enough if they resorted to this tactic out of pure conscience (think the worst anti-war types during Vietnam protesting soldiers funerals). Its worse than that if they choose these (mostly) hetero-sexual soldiers as hostages in their anti-gay jihad. What makes it unconscinable is that this is a source of revenue and notoriety, not just real conviction.
What are they in favor of? Let's assume God does in fact hate fags. What's the rest of the plan? I detest people who define themselves by what they are against, not what they are for. A purely negative agenda leads to negative actions and bears little positive fruit. These creatures are exhibit A, right along with Al Queda. What good do they do? Still, the only alternative is to confront savegry with civilization and marginalize them. Just don't ever think you'll convert them. They are beyond that. :P
FQ13 who will confront them with a flag and/or bible, but really doubts it will do a thing towards dissuading them. Still, I'm not them, and I won't be.

I agree there, though I would prefer to confront them with "Beecher's Bibles".
Just so you know FQ, God does in fact hate Gay's if, as many claim, the Bible is the word of God .
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus%2018:22&version=KJV
22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus%2020:13&version=KJV
13If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
That is why Bishop Robinson has caused a split between the English and American branches of the Anglican Church, not to mention ruining his own life through substance abuse.
-
I'm not acquainted with any one who is openly Gay. I have 2 cousins who are but I have not seen either of them in years
most gays are not onpenly gay. I know many that you would never think they are gay. ( both male and female) I also know many that you would swear they were gay.
-
This has nothing to do with gays. Its about common decency. As far as homosexuality, there are Biblical arguments on both sides. One says we take those passages literally and prescriptively, the other says we need to put them in historical context and understand that they aren't necessarily talking about the same things we are talking about today. Me, being straight? I honestly don't care all that much. I figure you should live your life and you and God can argue it out in the hereafter. Its not my business either way.
Phelps though? That's something I hope all Christians and everyone else can condemn. Inflicting pain on grieving families to make a point and get air time? Particularly when its done intentionally for fame and profit? That's one step up from assault. Yes its protected speech. Still, freedom of speech does imply having the moral decency to know when to shut the hell up, and a funeral is one of those times.

Weird thing up here.
I've lived in the NH Seacoast and the SF Bay area and spent a couple weeks in New Orleans, all have large Gay communities, usually they split about even between males and females.
Here in Laconia there is a large openly Lesbian community, but darn few if any gay men.
The last place I worked fully half the women were gay, but there was only one guy that even might have been.
Another oddity, Laconia is one of NH's smaller cities, surrounded by 20 miles of woods and water but it has the 3rd or 4th largest immigrant community in the State. Some are from Nepal and Bhutan, but we have lots of Thia's Vietnamese, Azerbaijanis, Serb's and Greeks, and most of the Blacks are African, not "African-Americans.
-
Sorry to divert the attention away from gender and preferences I thought it was interesting that there was people as far away as Australia with the group paying honour to the fallen soldier.
and......................since some one brought the subject up about homosexuals etc, personally couldnt give a rats what tickles ya fancy nor nether regions long as I dont have to hear its virtues or have people try and ram their beliefs down my throat. I think I am old enough and smart enough to know whats right, whats wrong and what keeps me in check, I dont need any book, person knocking on my door or some wanker politician to tell me other wise. Its quite simple really if your a bloke and you touch my ass I will hit you, if your a preacher, iman, cleric, brother or whatever and throw a book in my face and tell me I am going to burn in hell then see touch my ass response, if you are stupid enough to protest at any funeral I attend like those phelps tards then see response to touch my ass and throw book in face. I am a simple man who lives by simple rules, works for me!
Oh and dont pray for my soul see response to touching my ass :P

Time for dirty tricks.
Here's one I thought of to "get" a 9th grade shop teacher who had a disregard for students projects when spray painting his own work.
Wood Putty in the key holes.
Find out where these guys live and visit their front doors while they are away at a protest. Carry popcorn or some other item to sell should someone answer the door. A surgical glove will keep your prints off the door knob.
Find where they park their cars while at a protest. This is not as effective as it was in years past what with the remote lock/unlock buttons, but it might catch someone sometime.

Like a woman not being a virgin when she is married or adultery, both worthy of death by stoning.
-
I need to put a disclaimer here, whether or not God "hates fags", hates the act of sodomy, (would that apply to hetero kinkiness ? )
or if he loves every one regardless of what (or who ) they do, is not my problem.
If they do their job and don't piss me off I don't care how they amuse themselves.
If they don't do their job, or do piss me off then they should burn in hell for eternity.
Or at least be forced to watch the Nancy Pelosi/ Rosie O'Donut sex video.
Twice.
Side note, Why is it that every da*ned time I put "I" before "E", except after "C" my spell check makes me change it around ?

But you blame W if the guy in front of you leaves his left turn blinker on.
By the way, on a seriouser note, I figured out why that happens.
The blinker switch requires X amount of travel in the steering wheel in order to click off, as a car gets older the little switch wears so it requires more travel to flick the turn signal off.
The reason it happens mostly on Left turns is that we drive on the right so right hand turns are always tighter than left hand ones and require more movement of the wheel.
The reason it seems to happen more often to older people is that while the blinker has an audible tone, it is fairly faint, and the older you are, the worse your hearing gets so you are less likely to hear the sound.

We don't have that problem in the upper midwest, because most people don't know what that little stick on the left side is for >:(

Well it used to be you didn't need the blinker because you knew that was Bob's truck and he was turning left to go to get his morning coffee. I am not that old, but I still remember when I knew EVERYBODY I met on the road and where they SHOULD be going...

It's not just soldiers' funerals and gay funerals that these soulless scum have been protesting. Remember a few years ago in Pennsylvania Amish country when the idiot invaded the Amish school and shot several of the female students to death? Well, these worthless shreds of human debris from Westboro even protested at THOSE funerals.
If ever there was a special corner of Hell reserved for anybody, there has GOT to be a particularly nasty one reserved for THESE assholes.

I guess the folks in OK are not as tolerant as some others.
McALESTER - Members of a Kansas church that protests at military funerals may have found themselves in the wrong town Saturday.
Shortly after finishing their protest at the funeral of Army Sgt. Jason James McCluskey of McAlester, a half-dozen protesters from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., headed to their minivan, only to discover that its front and rear passenger-side tires had been slashed.
To make matters worse, as their minivan slowly hobbled away on two flat tires, with a McAlester police car following behind, the protesters were unable to find anyone in town who would repair their vehicle, according to police.
The minivan finally pulled over several blocks away in a shopping center parking lot, where AAA was called. A flatbed service truck arrived and loaded up the minivan. Assistant Police Chief Darrell Miller said the minivan was taken to Walmart for repairs.
Even before the protesters discovered their damaged tires, they faced off with a massive crowd of jeering and taunting counterprotesters at Third Street and Washington Avenue, two blocks from the First Baptist Church, where the soldier's funeral was held.
Miller estimated that crowd to number nearly 1,000 people, and they not only drowned out the Westboro protesters with jeers, but with raucous chants of "USA, USA."
A few motorcyclists interspersed among the crowd also revved up their engines to muffle the protests.
More than two dozen law-enforcement officers - state troopers, sheriff's deputies and city police - formed a security cordon around the Westboro protesters

Seems the local residents, not as PC,....are handling it now.

At the funeral of a serviceman killed in the middle east a few years ago, in my former town the Patriot Guard was in such force that it LITERALLY took 15 minutes for them to get through the intersection next to my shop! It was one of the most awesome things I've gotten to see. The scumbags didn't get anywhere near the funeral.
A friend of mine who was a Sheriff's deputy was assigned to protect them in case of a problem and when they asked him for directions to the cemetery and the graveside service, he gave them directions that took them the long way around, and I mean the LONG way. By the the time the scumbags got to the cemetery, the graveside service was way over and everyone was leaving. Of course the Patriot Guard still managed to surround them and block them from bothering anyone. ;D
I've never wanted a Harley but now I would like to have one just to be a member of the Patriot Guard. Those guys and gals are good people.
