Title: Sweet new ride...
Post by: kilopaparomeo on February 19, 2011, 05:23:18 PM
...S&W M&P9c.  Just picked it up yesterday and ran 200 rounds through it at the range between my kids indoor soccer games today.  I've been looking for my "perfect" carry gun and this is the closest to it so far.  I like 1911's but with my "challenged" body type, they are only realistic in the winter.  My PF9 is comfortable but I wanted a bit more firepower.  I just couldn't get myself to like the Ruger SR9c...just didn't fit my hand.

Very impressed with this gun on initial impressions.  Extraordinarily comfortable in the hand, tracks very well shot-to-shot, very accurate, shoots exactly to the POA for me.  Good looking too.

I did have a few failures to lock the slide back with one of the mags...I'll mark that one and change out the follower to see if that helps.  Otherwise, no drama on its first outing.

For good measure, I ordered a few full size mags and the XGrip spacer for backup and IDPA.

I likey...

Nice pick up!

I have one, and like it.

Did you buy it new?  If so, let S&W take care of mag that doesn't lock back for you.

Not to sound like a fool, but the very black slide reads "stainless". Did they annodize it or what?

that is a stainless slide, FQ. It's covered in Melonite (sp). I've got one myself and it's as good as stated. If I can see the laser there ain't nothing safe out to 25 yds.

Seems the M&P9c is becoming a popular pick. I opted for the M&P40c as I already had the full size. (the full size mags work fine)

But tekoken picked a 9c up just recently also. It's the way the grip just works. Same with the full size. It just fit my hand better than the SR9, Glock, XD's and a few others.

Congrats kpr! They are sweet.

Dude! What is it with the toes? Do you not own shoes? You realize that you and Haz are giving all Floridians a bad name as being a bunch of bare foot swamp rats right?

My first encounter with these was at the NRA show when they were initially launched.  Was very impressed by the grip then...but I didn't do anything about it.  My brother bought a full size M&P9 last year as his first gun and I shot it last Thanksgiving.  It felt absolutely wonderful in the hand and I couldn't miss with the silly thing.  Yet I still bought the SR9c.

Now that I own this, I remember why I liked this series so much each time I picked them up.  If this gun performs, I may have to buy a few more.  The 45 is supposed to be very nice also.

Damn it twyacht!  We sent you over to Haz's house to straighten him out and now we need to do a "bare toe" intervention on you!

What's next?  If we let you spend an evening with M'ette will we have to endure neked pictures of you in the fountain?

I tried the G26, the SA XD9 SC and the M&P9 SC with an eye on buying one of them.  The M&P beat my hand to death in less than 50 rds!  That being said...I tried the standard M&P9 and loved it.  Hope to sell something and buy one.
