Trump Needs to Lay All His Cards on the Table
by Ted Nugent
Okay, I’ll bite. I admit Donald Trump intrigues me as a potential presidential candidate.
I like what I’ve heard so far from Mr. Trump about his vast understanding of banking, business, and how America is getting the short end of the economic stick from a dramatically inferior China.
Even though Trump states he is a Republican, I suspect many moderates and even some of those who lean to the political Left would be attracted to his pro-business, accountability platform.
Trump would also attract a certain segment of the American public that is disgusted with and offended by professional politicians knowingly running the country off an economic cliff into bankruptcy. These disgruntled Americans just might believe Trump is the political Superman who can save America.
Know that smoke-and-mirrors liberals will launch an all-out broadside attack against him. As a successful businessman who believes in profits, Trump will drive anti-business liberals berserk. Hell, that's a powerful sign right there.
---snip---
As the 2012 campaign begins to gather political steam, Americans will insist on knowing more about Trump’s other core political beliefs and his vision for America.
With unemployment at 10% plus, foremost on the minds of Americans is the economy. Americans will want to know what policies he will advance to get entrenched government bureaucracies out of the way in order to reduce waste, status-quo redundancy, and unemployment, and to create good-paying jobs and make America more competitive globally.
With many Americans opposed to President Obama’s bureaucratic and expensive Fedzillacare, it would be interesting to hear Trump’s opinion about this legislation. Does he believe Fedzillacare should be repealed? If he disagrees with Fedzillacare, how would he reform the beast of health care?
How about Social Security and Medicare? Would Trump reform these financially unstable programs, and if so, how?
What are his policies to make America energy-independent? Would Trump support drilling for energy on the Continental Shelf, in the Gulf of Mexico, in Alaska, and everywhere else? What is his opinion of green energy and ethanol? Now with the disaster in Japan, what are his views on nuclear energy?
Everyone tuned in is concerned about the $14 trillion national debt and the runaway annual trillion-dollar deficit spending. How would Trump address government borrowing and spending? Does he support a balanced budget amendment? What other government reforms would he implement?
What would Trump’s foreign policy be? Would he have committed our military to participate in an attack against Libya, given a time line for pulling our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan? Would he show real leadership by standing up for a victory strategy instead of an exit strategy?
How about what Trump thinks about immigration, education, terrorism, Iran, government regulations, small businesses, and tax reform?
It’s not critical that Trump begin addressing these issues and others right now, but it soon will be if he continues to stick his toe in the presidential waters. Sooner or later he’s going to either have to swim in these rapids or step aside.
I’m intrigued with Trump. I’ll be even more intrigued when he begins to offer us his opinions on his vision for America in 2012 and beyond.
How about it, Mr. Trump? If you've got the goods, you can be a contender. If not, you're fired.

Some how I think Uncle Ted and The Donald would get along. At least they would always know where they stand with each other.
In a related story, I heard that Allen West would not oppose being Trump's running mate.
See the story here.

Then I may have lost a little respect for Allen West.
I find myself agreeing with Charles Krauthammer on this one.

trump has never supported a Conservative Republican candidate in the last 4 elections. He MAY be a fiscal conservative but he is a liberal on most other things. He supports one payer health care like canada has and I have never heard him say anything in support of the 2nd amendment. He would just be one more in a long list of RINO's.
-
??? I smell a Perot.
-
Would you prefer a loser retread like Romney or Huckabee ? Maybe a 3 time loser like Ron Paul is more to your liking ?
If you favor them, you might as well just quit fooling yourself and vote for BO, them assholes couldn't even beat McCain.
It's about more than the hair cut .
-
Just because the current offerings by the mainstream GOP
suck lack appeal doesn't mean that we should be charmed by the next smooth talking city slicker that comes along. The man is a self promoting clown.
BTW, I have regained some respect for LTC West.

Odd how the lame-stream media hasn't reported this. ::)

What some may be missing about Trump is that he didn't get to where he is by playing above the board. We might find that when they starting vetting his past, he's un-electable due to some shifty dealings in the real estate world.
I'm going with "he's a self promoting clown" and agree with Ichi....with a "he's an asshole" thrown in for good measure.
Nugent makes a cogent argument, we know nothing of Trump except what he's done on TV and in NYC. The TV part is an embarrassment, he's a used car salesman at best!
-
I'll jump in here again. Lately Trump has been working with consultants to fight the Atlantic City taxes on his casino holdings based on the fact that they are not worth what they were when he built them. As it turns out, the consultant has found out that THAT argument holds water EXCEPT for the fact that when he built his casino he settled up at 10 cents on the dollar, putting a lot of local suppliers and businesses OUT of business or at least in a world of hurt. So he never PAID what they were worth to build them, but through a series of legal and clever bankruptcies he still has them.
He's got a sharp PR firm that is telling him what to say and how to get press (he'll probably stiff them eventually), and his past COULD most likely cough up some real trash.
He's Al Sharpton without a race card to play. He's a Bernie Madoff that likes publicity. Snake oil, smoke, and mirrors....oh...and big brass balls.

You know, I'd guess all of that is true. What he had done is probably legal but not very nice things to do to those who get in the way of what he wants to accomplish.
Come to think of it, that might be exactly what I'd like to see happen to the Liberal Opposition.
As Uncle Ted says, we will have to wait until he declares what his position is on important issues....and if we believe he will stand by them. I would give him the benefit of the doubt on standing by his promises....he can't do any worse than most of the candidates on either side have done so far.
If he is "Al Sharpton"ish in getting done the job we want, more power to him.
I tend to feel that if he wants to get something done, it is gonna get done no matter who's butt gets kicked in the process. We just need to wait and see if he will be working to get our stuff done.
It is too early to tell where he will stand on the important issues, so I will wait and see...but my first impression is hopeful.
And as far as smelling a Perot, he specifically made the statement that he will ONLY run as a Republican to avoid splitting the Republican vote as Perot did. We will also see if he sticks to that. I'd bet he does.

What you say is just the beginning of what is to be uncovered (not uncovered, because it is already public knowledge) I'm sure. The problem is that he has made the big splash and told us that he intends to be the spoiler. Trump is running his politics like he runs his TV program, and there are enough no mind reality TV fans out here to fall for him and keep BHO in office.

Considering that the ridiculously huge national debt is one of the biggest problems America faces I think what you posted would give a thinking person even more reason to vote for Trump.
Or do you want your grandchildren to still be working to pay off the Chinese ?
Haven't you people had enough of the same old well groomed pretty boy lying bastards ?
Or do you just like taking it up the azz from Uncle Sam ?
-
I'm just sayin' is all...
Nobody knew Obutthead was a smoker until after he got elected. I'm just pointing out that Trump is a colossal sheister who knows how to get what he wants and won't think twice about screwing everyone he uses to get it- that's how we know him around here. Throughout his career he has pretty much embodied all of what most people consider the bad side of capitalism. (and really the shady side of humanity). Maybe he's the PERFECT guy for the White House as far as getting things done because he knows how to use the dirt to his advantage- I don't know. No one thought much of Nixon for doing that though.
I would think that as his M.O. in the business world is to use up everyone and everything and goes about burning his bridges, it's only a matter of time until he does the same thing to the people who elected him once he's where he wants to be. And if he's not ready to give it up I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes our own version of Ghaddafi. He's an egomaniac with a pathological disregard for everyone else.
Still, that sounds like a description of Obama, except for the decades of business accomplishments (no matter how ugly the means).
I don't know...I'm not good with the crystal ball, but a dog that bites is going to bite you sooner or later. If he's a humper, wear your chaps 'cause eventually you're going to get soiled.

All of his life Donald Trump has cared about one thing, and one thing only... Donald Trump. I find it hard to believe that he see the presidency as anything but another way to line his pockets.

+1, he will help re elect BHO by taking votes away from us.

Yes but Trump may not be the answer!
Voting for Trump won't change that!
Damn Skippy!
Not very much, No!
Listen Tom, we all know the story here. If we do what the "middle of roads" did in 2004, voted for "Anybody but Bush!" and voted for that idiot Kerry, we're going to end up with another four years of communism and Obama! I agree we need to centralize and find one electable candidate and power through 2012. I care little about who the President is as long as he/she is NOT a Democrat. That candidate may be a RINO but that's still better than the alternative.
I care more about getting the Senate back on the middle/right and keep the House on a level playing field.
Maybe, just maybe, Karl Rove's prediction is true and a truly remarkable Conservative will emerge over the next 10-12 months that will surprise us but that guy ain't Donald Trump!
-
both of them have skeletons in the closet.

Ever see a photo of Abe Lincoln with out his beard ? Washington only had one tooth of his own, (in his mouth, he may have had a couple more in a pocket )
Taft weighed about 400 pounds.
And then there were Carter, Clinton and Obummer.........
-
??? I smell a Perot.
Think about this.
How would the election have gone if the Republicans had nominated Perot?
He would have gotten all the votes Perot siphoned from the Republican candidate plus all the votes of independents he drew plus all the usual Republican votes.
Right now I don't see another candidate that could work that other than Trump.
If a Republican candidate emerges who has any chance of defeating BO and is nominated, I believe Trump when he says he will not run as other than a Republican candidate to avoid the "Perot syndrome" of siphoning votes.
Regardless of Trump's closet full of skeletons, I do believe he wants just what we do....ANYONE in the White House but BO and he is willing to do what it takes to prevent that. His motive is obvious, Socialism/Communism is bad for the way Trump does business. He is fighting for his way of life.
-
What is this "closet full of skeleton's" that genius's like TAB and FQ keep talking about ? The guys life has been in every tabloid in the super market for 30 friggin' years.
People like that are as much a menace to America as an overt subversive like George Soros, with their wimper of "You can't fight the system because I'm to gutless and/or brainwashed".
TAB isn't worth paying attention to since he never has anything good to say about any one, including the rest of us here. According to him we are all uncaught felons.

That's what makes this whole thing sound like a publicity stunt to me. Tons of face time on TV and if it doesn't work out, well, go build another golf course.
There is a LOT of time till anything that matters happens.
I think there is a huge possibility that we are stuck with BHOassclown for 4 more years. (God help us)
The blacks will vote for him because he's black.
The ghetto rats will vote for him to keep the free cash coming in.
The libtards may be upset that he hasn't done enough for libtard causes, certainly not enough though to vote republican.
The repubs haven't come up with a candidate that has serious draw power.
Bwhore is only good at one thing - campaigning. It's the only thing he knows how to do.
He can't run shit through a goose, but he'll tell you how great he is. I think we may be fooked.

There is where Mitch and I are in total agreement.
If America is reduced to relying on the selfless intelligence of the American voted we are indeed , well and truly f*cked.

its true... think about it, how many felonys have you commited? not to mention the ones you never knew were felonys.

Speak for yourself sleaze ball, I, and most others here are REPUTABLE citizens.
Hell, I don't even lie on my taxes or resume.
-
The Donald made it pretty clear yesterday that he will not run if he thinks it would split the vote and give Odamna 4 more. He and I think alike on that issue--4 more would truly doom our nation. Hell, another 18 months and we may not recover. Meanwhile, The Donald gets a crapload of free publicity.
I'm willing to wait and see what actual choices are going to eventuate.
The current crop of loser wannabees does not impress me. Except for Herman Cain, the lot of 'em are not worth the powder to blow 'em up. A Cain/Marco Rubio or a Cain/LtCol West ticket could be of some real interest. But, I am waiting until something shakes out before making a commitment to anyone.

so when you were a kid you never put a penny on a rail road track? Or used fire works( depends on the state)?
I've never met anyone that has not commited a felony at some point in thier life.
as far as not lieing on taxes... that either makes you a lier or a fool... Ever ordered anything online/thru the mail? you know you are still supose to pay your local sales tax on it.( almost no one does.)

Penny on the tracks, Nope, to cheap, never saw the point, I'd seen others that had no further interest
Fire works are, and were, legal here.
1040 EZ, no self employment, no deductions. No incentive or opportunity to lie on the taxes.
And no state sales tax.
So while you may be a criminal, here in Free America you have to make an effort to become a scum bag.

Every silver lining has to have it's cloud.
Kind of reminds me of Tony Soprano before he got professional help.

That's because you can't enforce it. Here is how sales tax (in mail order) works. Technically you have to pay sales tax to the county in which the item is shipped. However it gets even more complicated when it comes to building materials. I might ship material to a contractor in one county, however the job is in yet another county. So I have to charge the sales tax to the county in which the material is to be used. Even if they pick up the material at my shop I still have to charge sales tax for the county in which it is installed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_tax
Enforcement of tax on remote sales
In the United States, every state with a sales tax law has a use tax component in that law applying to purchases from out-of-state mail order, catalog and e-commerce vendors, a category also known as "remote sales".[25] As e-commerce sales have grown in recent years, noncompliance with use tax has had a growing impact on state revenues. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that uncollected use taxes on remote sales in 2003 could be as high as $20.4 billion. Uncollected use tax on remote sales was projected to run as high as $54.8 billion for 2011.[26]
Enforcement of the tax on remote sales, however, is difficult. Unless the vendor has a physical location, or nexus, within a state, the vendor cannot be required to collect tax for that state.[25] This limitation was defined as part of the Dormant Commerce Clause by the Supreme Court in the 1967 decision on National Bellas Hess v. Illinois. An attempt to require a Delaware e-commerce vendor to collect North Dakoka tax was overturned by the court in the 1992 decision on Quill Corp. v. North Dakota.[26]
The Internet Tax Freedom Act of 1998 established a commission to study the possibility of internet taxation, but the commission did not make any formal recommendations. In a report in 2003, the Congressional Budget Office warned of the economic burden of a "multiplicity of tax systems, particularly for smaller firms".[26]
In an effort to reduce the burden of compliance with the tax laws of multiple jurisdictions, the Streamlined Sales Tax Project was organized in March 2000. Cooperative efforts in this project by 44 state governments and the District of Columbia eventually produced the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement in 2010.[27] This agreement establishes standards necessary for simplified and uniform sales tax laws. As of December 2010, 24 states had passed legislation conforming with the agreement. Whether the Streamlined Sales Tax can actually be applied to remote sales ultimately depends upon Congressional support, because the 1992 Quill v. North Dakota decision determined that only the U.S. Congress has the authority to enact interstate taxes.[28]
So at the end of the day the question is: How do you enforce it? Are you going to hire another 10,000 IRS agents?

That is because there is no mechanism in most states for the consumer to do this. For most businesses there is, but not for the private citizen.

I didn't think any one would know who Lash Larue was.
They would think he made gun stuff ;D

Aw, come on Tom, give us some credit. Lash Larue was a B-western Cowboy that preferred to use a whip rather than a gun.
Go here to find out more

IIRC he was also the old Silent movie bad guy in "The Perils of Pauline" who Snidely was based on.

there are ton of federal felonys out there that most people never heard of.
Removing a cat from a car or truck for example is a federal felony, but it happens all the time.
There is a state in the south where oral sex with some one ohter then your husband/wife is a felony.
Tresspassing on rail road property is a federal felony( very old law), whats worse its a cite and release deal.
in AZ any fire works are a felony.
hell what me and the wife did on the boat today, could have made us have to register as sex offenders in most states.
It does not matter where you live, there is odd ball felonysd, that you have never heard of.
-
I hate to say this, but ol' TAB is right on this one. It doesn't t take a stretch or anything esoteric, doesn't even require performing quaint and S sex acts on a boat. The .gov has told us already they consider us all terrorists - all us bitter Bible- and gun-clingers. Even the SPLC has supported that assessment. And since terrorism is a felony - voila! We're all uncaught felons.
Next time someone gets busted for something and the news is all atwitter about it, look at the stockpile of charges that are proffered by .gov against the alleged BG. Same with each of us. If they decide to come for us, they will crow about the stockpile of guns - even FQ's Sportical! ;D - and an arsenal of ammo (<cough> 2000 rounds of .22LR ,cough>) as unassailable evidence we are well and truly real honest to goodness BGs.

TAB's an ass

I, however, am a saint. ;) :-* :P ;D

Tom.....give me another chance.
I haven't put a penny on the tracks in 45 years and haven't touched fireworks in 20 and haven't cheated on my fed tax for 3 years...and only a little bit on the sales tax thing anyway.
And I won't ever try to get that cat that sneaks into my garage out of my car again now that TAB has let me know it is a felony. I'll just try harder to remember to keep the windows rolled up.
I promise.
-
Entertaining, to say the least.
http://www.dumblaws.com/laws/united-states/california (http://www.dumblaws.com/laws/united-states/california)
-
look at any state, you will find some strange laws.
-
Sometimes a specific case of a general law might be shown leading one to believe it is a ridiculous law over all.
For instance this example from Ohio. It is illegal to fish for whales on Sunday.
Sounds like the law makers must be smoking something to even think of enacting such a foolish law, particularly in Ohio.
However, it is not quite so unbelievable to still have a law prohibiting fishing on Sunday. Some places got really vigorous with their Blue Laws.
Another example might be a law shown as It is illegal to beat a stubborn mule on the city streets between 2 and 4 pm on weekdays.
This could simply be an ordinance prohibiting cruelty to animals or an ordinance prohibiting any draft animals on city streets at any time, thus having a mule on city streets is always illegal no matter what day of the week, time of day or the mule's disposition.

That site had at least one incorrect entry for NH, It said "It is illegal to take seaweed from the beach",
In fact, it is illegal to take seaweed from the State beach with out a permit. The State derives revenue from the sale for garden use that helps pay for beach maintainence. On private property it is the property of the owner and he can do as he pleases with it.

Trump: Obama wasn't qualified for Ivy League
NEW YORK – Real estate mogul Donald Trump suggested in an interview Monday that President Barack Obama had been a poor student who did not deserve to be admitted to the Ivy League universities he attended. Trump, who is mulling a bid for the Republican presidential nomination, offered no proof for his claim but said he would continue to press the matter as he has the legitimacy of the president's birth certificate.
"I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?" Trump said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I'm thinking about it, I'm certainly looking into it. Let him show his records."

Anybody want to bet on what Trumps report cards say? I'm betting not so good on the "works and plays well with others" line. ;D Seriously, what is Trump FOR? What is the platform? He's getting a lot of attention because of the celebrity. Great. Now use it to tell me what the first five things he'd do as President are. Until I hear that, color me unimpressed.

Yeah...it's like the old one about what you call a guy who graduated medical school with a 4.0 versus a guy who graduated with a 2.5.......you call them both doctor.
One thing is, if you're preparing to go under the knife you ask the surgeon if he has the proper credentials.
What would you do if he tells you that he does, but will not provide adequate proof of said credentials?

Find another!
Been there, done that....
I've been paying out of pocket to see my orthopedic surgeon for three years. I won't go to anyone else..how much is your life worth?
FQ, you realize that you've agree with Brother Ted...
-
I agree with Ted more often than I disagree. Its his tone and style that sometimes rub me wrong, but honestly? I'd love to go hunting with him and I do trust the guy. Vote for him? No. But I'd sure buy him a beer. ;D

He doesn't drink...though I did see him drink a beer on a show last year..non-alcoholic maybe

One thing to remember in this political process that's kicking off:
The lesser of two evils is still evil.
Labels like Democrat and Republican have less value than conservative or progressive/liberal. Conservative claims must all be inspected and verified because....THE POLITICIANS, THEY LIE ABOUT WHO THEY ARE.
As a model to study, please review Trent Lott & Lindsey Graham.
We don't know who someone is until we check his background...i.e., actions tend to verify a guys character and core beliefs...but who woulda' thunk it?

White House releases Obama birth certificate
The White House on Wednesday morning released the president's long form birth certificate (pdf) in an attempt to put "birther" questions to rest.
"The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn't good for the country. It may have been good politics and good T.V., but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country," White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said in a statement.
The president had released his certificate of live birth in 2008, but many "birthers" said the absence of a long form birth certificate prompted questions about Obama's birthplace of Hawaii. In recent weeks potential GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has brought birther questions into the forefront of the media.

The GOP really needs to find a better qualified candidate. I agree that Trump would help Obama get re-elected.
Uncle Ted needs to run for Prez!!! ;)

that would mean Obama would get a second term...
The only people that would vote for ted, were already going to vote against obama anyways.
There are really 3 reasons why obama won last time.
1 McCain was a dead fish to start out with.
2 Palin scared away the moderate/ the slighly leaning to the left
3 Obama ran a great campign and got more young people to vote for the 1st time they any other election in history.
If the gop had sent out a decent guy, with a decent vp, they would be in office now.
Preeching to the choir is not how you win elections. getting the moderates is where its at.
-
One more time I'll agree with TAB, then I slit my wrists..
Independents elect the Presidents, PERIOD!
Core Democrats ALWAYS vote for the Dems.....Core Republicans ALWAYS vote for the GOP and Independents are the swing voters.
Go back through all but 1984 when Reagan annihilated the the competition and this has been the history. What happened in 2008 was the result of the "Ignorant Dumb Ass" vote! Ask FQ, he'll write a dissertation on it for you!
One more time, I don't give a hairy rats butt WHO is running against the Dipshit In Chief, I'll vote for them!
-
I will disagree with TAB on Palin. She didn't cost him votes.
If McCain had picked some fellow POS RINO for VP Obama's margin would have been larger.
It was common knowledge at the time that Palin appearances consistantly drew larger crowds of supporters than McCain did, often by 100%.
If 20,000 came to see McC, Palin would draw 40,000

Wrong, wrong and wrong!
Obama got elected because the American citizen is just as stupid as we think we are!

I don't really care because Trump was for Obama before he was against Obama. Perhaps he was channelling John Kerry. Perhaps not. Either way, it shows he either has poor judgement or is just using conservatives to get what he wants. NEXT!
