I'm a big fan of Enemy at the Gates. Then I like to take my Mosin Nagant M91/30 to the range afterwards.

Open Range has an excellent running gunfight and on top of that it is a good movie , start to finish.

I agree with LIMB on Open Range.  I also like MOST of the gun fights in Young Guns and Young Guns II.  All three of these movies do a good job of showing that all shooting is not perfect or on target, and all shots are not instant kills.

"The professional" - almost classic.
"Shoot'em up" - to relax. Gun porn by ParaOrdnance
"In Bruges" - to enjoy. You have to look this one up in some indy theaters. Not on DVD yet.

Than again, the Magnificent 7, Saving Private Ryan for American Combat, OR any later John Wayne Movies,

Especially "The Shootist". High Plains Drifter, and of course The Good, The bad and the Ugly.

Is this the second or third movie thread?  The thing I always find is that I can name a couple, like I did, and then every post by someone else is a forehead slapper.

Soooooooo many good movies and so little time.  At least with the memory fading it is a new adventure every time an old one comes on.

Been awhile since I saw this one, one of my favorites. Some shoot em up in the beginning.

Tom Horn with Steve McQueen (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FTom-Horn-Steve-McQueen%2Fdp%2FB0008ENHUS&tag=drtv-reloading-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325)

Yeah, I bet I haven't seen that in 15 years!

Your Right Marshall, that's the V8 forehead smacker, Tom Horn was great! I also haven't seen it in years but if I recall it was sad due to McQueen;s signature Henry or Sharps ( memory escapes me ), being temporarily stolen to set him up for which he is hung for a murder he didn't commit.

Thank you for stimulating the "gray matter" I need more.

Also The Wind and the Lion, with Sean Connery, Candice Bergman, and Brian Keith who plays Teddy Roosevelt, who is constantly sending his Winchester back due to a disappointing action. Sighting in his rifle with his daughters in the West Lawn of the White House., AH the good ol' days.

Thanks

First off, love Tom Horn, very good movie.

Not surprisingly, movie and facts are just a tad different. Horn was a 6+ foot tall "cattle detective" (McQueen, the ultimate Steve, was 5'7") in the employ of the big ranchers. His job was to drive off or otherwise eliminate rustlers and maverickers - usually homesteaders - people who took calves of branded cows where the calves had not yet been branded. There is strong evidence to suggest he was not set up, that Willie Nickel was his doing, albeit a mistake for his old man.

And Horn as I recall used a Winchester .44-40 or .45LC. His comment to US Marshall deputy LeFlor was that the bullet must have travelled an arc like a rainbow for a 300 yard hit.

What I think was cool is that he wasn't cast for the role, but was hired as a consultant for the film. After He performed a demonstration on videotape in which he yelled obscene insults and abuse for 15 minutes without stopping, repeating himself or even flinching - despite being continuously pelted with tennis balls and oranges...they replaced the originally cast actor with him.

To get it right thats not a role you can "act" when I first saw the movie I damned near went to attention and I was watching a DVD ;D  The set was perfect as well, Exactly like my sqaudbay 1st Bn. PI in 77, right down to the red painted floor.

AMC has Magnificent 7 on tonight. Haven't seen it in years,

"We're outnumbered and outgunned, what do we do?"

Yul Brenner: "We Fight." Steve McQueen and of course James Coburn, Charles Bronson. Not quite the metro sexual "sensitive" movies out today.

Thanks for the post

Broken Trail was on earlier, followed by Open Range. BT is excellent, great story and Tom Church was amazing, still remember him as the dopey mechanic in Wings. Accurate portrayal of gun usage - and the near final scenes with the gunfight as Church saves Duvall. Someone already mentioned Open Range and the culminating gunfight with Baxter's men.

Yes, The Kingdom was very good.

Open Range is probably the best cowboy shootout ever filmed.

But, for the best gun battle ever filmed, you need to go back to Northwest Passage, with Spencer Tracy.  The Rangers attack on the Abenaki village is a classic!  It was filmed in real time, starting just at dawn, and finishing up a few hours later.  Lots of shooting and hand-to-hand, plus a great shot, looking over a Rangers shoulder as he tracks a running Indian and shoots him.  And the best part of it is, it's a true story!

Grizzle Bear

The Way Of The Gun

Yes Sir! I recommend this one to everyone. Lots of guns, gun fights and great dialogue.  If you haven't seen this one please rent immediately.  The opening with Sara Silverman is worth the price of admission.  Then you have quality exchanges like these:

Interviewer:Heterosexual?
Parker: Can I ask you something? Are you a faggot? See, you asked me if I was heterosexual; I asked you the same question, only I was clear about the answer I was looking for.
