FTA:

Newbern, the president of Buckeyes for Concealed Carry, was taken forcibly into police custody just after 8:30 p.m., while he was standing at the front of the crowd wearing an empty holster, which was clearly visible on his belt, and with his hands crossed in front of his chest.

Gee, I'll save the jack booted thugs remark for later.....I'll bet it was an evil "black" EMPTY holster too....those things are dangerous..

Surprised he wasn't tazed...

Columbus and Cleveland have been struggling not to comply with Ohio's CCW and pre-emptive gun laws so this isn't a surprise.

Cincinnati, on the other hand, has a DA who has stated that anyone who goes armed into a place to commit robbery has given up their right to not be shot.

If he had one of those dangerous bibles with him, he would have been.

I think a strong argument could be made that his civil rights were violated.

What did they think they were going to charge him with, "Empty Threatening"

The university president sure likes power.  He appears drunk on that power and that he intends to pursue his desires even in opposition to law.

Power trip.

His way or the highway despite the arguements.

Ignoring law.

Pretty much sums up a bigot to me.

They don't have to charge him with anything.
By hauling him off, even if they let him go once they were out of sight, they were seen to "do something".
Appearance trumps substance.

Students that support carry should mass together and all wear empty holsters to school as a valid method of protest. The po po turing up and taking one fella away is a little easier than turning up and taking away 200.

It could make some converts.

Rebellion is Nature's Way of turning kids into adults.

Youth will tend to oppose the "Oppressive Establishment" (after all, the Oppressive Establishment has been making them eat there veggies and clean their room for some 18 years now) and follow "Enlightened Leaders".  This is how BHO got a lot of the youth vote and how educators influence them....by supporting the suppressed and downtrodden....

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

... from the plaque mounted in the interior of the Statue of Liberty.

But, when they see the Enlightened Leaders acting like an Oppressive Establishment, particularly to their peer group, they may well have second thoughts.
