Title: Just a tiny small item to put on display in your living room...
Post by: Ocin on September 12, 2012, 05:30:14 AM
An afternoon of surfing over the internet resulted in the following...  8)

http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/SpecialEditions/1877BulldogGatlingGun.aspx (http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/SpecialEditions/1877BulldogGatlingGun.aspx)

There is no price listed. We should probably be grateful for that, since it will probably ruin the rest of your day  :o (and week, for that matter)

I think at an auction this year an original went for around $210,000.   But that might have included the caisson.

It better have included attractive hookers and premium whiskey too for that price.

Dixie Gun Works has reproductions at much more reasonable prices.

You realize, don't you, that the paperwork for a Gatling is the same as for any other long gun ?
They are not an NFA item.  ;D

Reasonable indeed. At $45K.  :o

Nevertheless, if i had $45K I might still be in the market for such a beauty :)

Lucky you! In Holland these things are considered to be full automatic weapons. Have one of those in your home and the cops won't even bother to arrest you: they will take you to the nearest woods and summary execute you!  >:(

Thing is that unless you are lucky enough to have a room layout so that you can put it smack in the middle of the room, you need two of them to balance each other.....

If you had ammo as well they might do that.
But it wouldn't be the same ones who originally knocked on your door  ;D

Having a US Marshal as a best friend while working for an Intelligence Agency does too ;D
Plus the pictures of the girls with the 1911 and AR don't hurt.

I think you should go for subtle. Clean an AR when they walk in. Then say "Hi, she's still upstairs, could you hand me that beta mag"? ;D

I had one come over in the middle of my dry fire pracftice tonight.  Nothing like chatting them up with a comp holster and 4 mags on a double alpha belt  ;D.  I had to show my daughter how much my reloads have improved (hoping she'll bf that I am under a second).  Slow for USPSA but greased lightning to kids ;)

+1 this.  I somehow managed to be cleaning my ar, and all of my pistols on my daughters prom day. Her date came to pick her up with his mother in tow for pictures.

The daughter was home early, and I never  saw that knuckle dragger again.  ;D

I guess it would be in poor taste to ask the guy to give you a hand in the back yard while your daughter was getting ready...then take him to the farthest corner and use a shovel to mark off a plot of ground as you gauge his height and width..... ;D

Along the lines of our thread drift my middle daughter is the Sophomore Homecoming Princess, and we all know what that means.  More young, dumb and full of stupid boys popping up around here.  I need a cool, safe way to display a "few" guns any ideas?

Magoo, don't bother with the guns. Put a chopping block on the front porch with a big bloody axe.

Something like this.

My grandfather once sent one of my mother's dates to a dance home because he wasn't wearing socks. He had to drive back to put some on and then come back. 50 years later she's still pissed about it, but I'm thinking the boy got the message. ;)

No need for the guns.   just knowing that you are there waiting for her and that they will never be found is enough.   while you do need to worry about the boys, girls are just as bad( some times worse)       I like what a freind of mine did with all his kids.  About the time they started hs, he bought them a big box of condoms and explained to them what can happen with unprotected sex.  How a moment of being dumb can bite you in the ass for a life time.

Maybe a mandatory viewing of all the Honey Boo Boo episodes? Or Bussing tables at "kids night" at an Applebees? ;D
