This is good for a laugh.
I'm getting back into fly tying and needed some more materials. So, I've bought a little of this and a little of that. I was on ebay (yeah, I know, again) and I found this huge lot of fur and feathers, 300 items. It was a pig in a poke as the guy who was selling it just bought it at an estate sale and was clueless. I bid $70 bucks and won. Today I got this huge freaking box. I swear I could start my own museum of natural history ;D .
I have nine full fox tails; red, grey, silver and arctic, antelope hair, deer hair, caribou hair, mole hair, chinchilla hair. Muskrat, beaver, skunk, squirrel and bunny. There's even, I shat you not, Aussie possum hair. More eyes than you can shake a stick at, deer tails, mink tails, weasel tails, deer tails, feathers from birds I've never heard of. Hooks, yarn, synthetics, thread, beads, it goes on and on. I could tie a fly shops worth and not be half way through it. I probably scored over 1500 bucks worth of stuff, but I don't know what to do with half of it. I'm thinking maybe a hat with the fox tails. 8)
Lord, its just too funny. Anyway, I am set with tying materials for the freaking duration and then some. Sometimes ebay is your friend. Heck, just for the giggle factor when I pulled out the skunk and Australian possum hair made it worth the money. I was ROFL.

US fish eat Australian possums? Who knew? ;D

One of the guys up here has been working off the same fox tail for 60+ years, I think you are set for a while FQ ROFLMAO. ;D

I've always wanted to get into fly fishing, but have never had the cash to invest in a good assortment.
Do you think you will be able to put together Fly Fishing Care Packages for the forum members? ;D ;D
And I could use some help getting started. What bait would one use to catch a fly? ;D

One of Paths recent posts? ;D Sorry, that was both cheap and easy (and fun). Sorry Path, I couldn't resist. Seriously, If you want to get started PM me or start a new thread if you think others would be interested. I can post some links.

When I read the title, I figured you'd bought a 71 Imperial or something..

I wish Santa. ;D But the good news is that I found a home for most of this stuff. I kept what I needed, and I'm selling some of the higher dollar items to cover the cost. The rest is going to a guy who runs a fly fishing clinic for kids with cancer. He teaches tying in the winter, and then takes them fishing with their flies in the spring. I couldn't think of a better cause.

Well done, FQ. Very good. Same for the guy running the clinic. Sometimes I'm Proud to be a Human... :)

Wow. That is incredibly inspirational. Good for you and good for him!

I thought about you last night after I shut it down. I stepped out on the porch to smoke and saw a fox running across the yard. I stepped in to grab a gun to try to pop him so I could mail you the tail but he heard me as I tried to ease back out the door..
Sounds like you've got it under control though. :)
