Sources close to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign are suggesting he will reveal the name of his vice presidential selection this week while Sen. Barack Obama is getting the headlines on his foreign trip. The name of McCain's running mate has not been disclosed, but Mitt Romney has led the speculation recently.
<that's the sum total of this article, but I thought we ought to keep an eye on this>

I'm waiting by the phone for McCain to call me about the VP gig or for Marshall to call me about the Ruger Giveaway!
Inside track to the McCain VP is Hazcat. Stories of Hazcat dancing nekid around a blender has got McCain to thinking that he needs someone like Haz to carry one or two zip codes in Florida.

Unfortunately if won't be Fred Thompson, I heard him say on a radio program that he isn't interested in the VP Job, Too Bad,He would make a Great President

TR said the same thing, and he WAS a great President.

I hope its rommey... out of the final 8 or so he was by far the best choice. If he picks giuliani, obama will win for sure.
In all honesty I thought McCain would have droped out earily in the race do to his ties to bush and stance on the war in Iraq.
-
I agree with Tab. Romney will be the pick. I may be a boost to McCain if he can do it while B-HO is overseas.
-
Romney is a Masshole, anti gun POS.

He called but I was on the 'throne' and missed it. Oh well...story of my life. ;) ;D

His people called me on Monday to see if I would attend the Town Hall meeting in Wilkesbarre PA on Wednesday. I replied that I would be interested in attending. They are supposed to call me back sometime today. If they let me ask a question it could cause a little discomfort for them. As they are trying to entice Democrats and unaffiliated voters. I am registered Unaffiliated because I am a Conservative and believe in the US Constitution not the appeasers.

McCain is not much better... also lets not forget that bush said he would sign another AWB if it made it too his desk.

Bush said he would, ROMNEY DID. Permanent assault weapon ban with NO ATTEMPT to veto.

is that what the people of his state wanted? if so it would have been WRONG for him to veto it.

Leaders sometimes have to actually lead, and that sometimes means going against the prevailing "wisdom".
-
My money is on Bobby Jindal. From what I see an announcement will be made in Louisiana.

Tab, Let me get this right here. If the people of the state wanted to allow the age of consent to be 10 years old to drink, drive get married The Governor shouldn't veto it? As said previously a leader should lead and veto stupid laws. JMHO

Thought that stupidity was settled 1860 - 1865, Just because the MAJORITY in a state wanted to continue slavery did not mean they could.

Maybe I'm just getting sucked into the local media hype, but now ABC Radio and a couple other sources have joined the Star Tribune in talking about Gov. Pawlenty of Minnesota. They've been playing this up in the Cities for quite a while, and Pawlenty has down played it. However, they also got going on Jessie running for Senate, but he played mind games with the media and had a great time.

If your boss says do this or your fired, do you do it, or do you get fired?

Whether McCain names his VP this week or not, I think floating that story was a brilliant piece of political strategy. It has worked in diverting SOME amount of attention from B-Ho's Victory Tour of Europe and the middle east.
Did you see the footage of the interview where Katie Couric tried, repeatedley, to pin "The Messiah" down about his statements and opinions on the troop surge? The fact that Obama ducked and dodged the questions didn't surprise me a bit. But there are a couple of things that DID surprise me:
1) That Couric, or any other member of the mainstream media would ask such questions of the candidate they seem to have an almost schoolgirl-like crush on.
2) That the footage of the encounter ended up ANYWHERE besides the cutting room floor.

If it is wrong, I refuse,no one can force you to do something that is wrong or illegal. Besides, This has nothing to do with what my boss tells me to do, it has everything to do with what is wrong or right. If a law is immoral or illegal than it should be vetoed. There was a city in California that passed a law forbidding the ownership of firearms, it was overturned in the courts because they didn't have to authority to pass such a law, BUT it was what the majority wanted. Just because the majority wants it still doesn't make it right.

But it was not a city, it was a state. any public offical that does not fallow the will of the people should be replaced...
