Gonna have to watch this one.

They have my interest. Two more days until we get to see it.

Yep...added to the list!

Pretty hard to revolutionize a concept that's been in production since 1836.
What can they do ?
Automate the action ?
Webley Fosbury, and Mateba beat them.
Polymer ?
Ruger BTDT got the sales to prove it.
Firing off the bottom chamber ?
Again, Mateba, and the Rhino are ahead of them.
Maybe a caliber optimized for self defense ?
Aren't ALL center fire pistol calibers supposed to be ?
Maybe a non metallic cylinder to go with the polymer frame ?
There is not much that can be done to the mechanism because the linkages have to be maintained to transfer leverage from trigger to hammer and cylinder pawl.
Some combination, like electronic ignition and recoil operation of the cylinder?
Sealed breech like a Nagant1895, striker fired, blowback or recoil revolved ?
Guess we have to wait till Monday, but I'm puzzled.

We will see in the morning, but sometimes the best new product is just returning to quality basics.

Kimber still in Yonkers?
Maybe they're trying to avoid the magazine bans!
😄

Now we know. A 6 shot J-frame sized ccw revolver.

Big freaking deal . A "Fitz special " with a trigger guard.
There was a really good reason they adopted the 5 shot cylinder so many decades ago.
-
An extra round and only about .05" wider than a 5 shot revolver sure sounds like a winner to me.
-
Shoots good! 6 shot...return of the dick special; Perfect trigger. $895. All stainless. More later.

Good to here. Wonder if internals are much different? I like its looks. But to compete with the LCR and 640 the price is a "big" problem.
Well, Tom, it's not a big deal, but it is a deal. Like the Governor over the Judge. 6 shots is 20% more. Now Kimber has one-upped S&W in its own backyard. If I didn't already have a 3" Model 60, AND was in the market for a small carry revolver, Kimber would probably be the choice.
-
I don't think price will be an issue. If you go to S&W website you will see that the Model 60 in stainless runs between $740 and $800, and the Model 640 (also with real sights, like the Kimber) runs $850.
A person looking at a Kimber is not going to spend much time comparing it to a Ruger LCP or a Smith Airweight, just like you don't see Mercedes drivers drooling over Lincolns or Cadillac owners yearning for an Impala.

Meh....

Gonna be a handful with full load mags.

Nice thing about buying a .357Magnum gun is that it is engineered to handle the abuse, but you can use .38spl+P or just .38spl if you choose.

And, my SP101 could be used to beat someone to death when short on ammo!
;D

I'd look at it the other way. How many people looking at a 640 can you get to upgrade to a Kimber? But then Kimber has always had a high price tag. So then is Kimber saying that those in the "Kimber market strata" are looking for a comparable backup revolver to go with their 1911? Do they mean the Solo and Micro are loosing out to S&W? Hmmm. Revolvers rule.

Nah. That's my 8" S&W 629. It's a heck of a hammer and club.

When asked about a good carry gun for a woman I point to the S&W X frames. They are surprisingly easy to shoot and control, and beyond that all she needs to do is hit the bad guy with the purse she's carrying it in ;D

My lovey dovey don't need another four pounds in her purse! :)

Aaaaaaaand, YEP.
I'm not much on DA revolvers (nothing against them, just can't justify big money for them).
I have a Colt Agent, and when in need of a deep concealment belly/pocket gun because of those silly "we don't really like guns in here, so please leave your big evil legal CCW gun in the vehhicle" signs, I go with it.
