Just wondering has anyone having any more problems with their sr-9 's Mine keeps shooting good and I must say that I had my doubts about it when it came back. But now my only problem is trying to find money to buy more rd's to shoot, I never thought i'd say this but god i love to shoot this pistol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God knows I have had my share of pistols but i'm really amaze at how good it feels in my hand and how well it shoot's . The only thing I did to it was put a rubber slip on grip on it and paint the front sight blaze orange. The only other thing I did was to grind 1/32 off the top of the front sight cause my rear sight was screwed all the way up , and I was afraid it would come loose all together, this way it has a few clicks left..If I could I'd shoot it every day at least 100-150 rd's .

Just kidding! I really do like it though...

i enjoy mine as well, its not my carry gun but it does the trick. Only problem i've had with it was when my younger sister was shooting it, she was limp wristing insanly bad and it jammed on her a few times. i attribute that to her lack of experience not because of the gun

I haven't had any problems with reliability---but I am definitely not anybody's younger sister either!
I do carry it, in a Don Hume IWB for a H&K USP and it works amazingly!

God help us all, but I've been using the unmodified SR9 that Ruger keeps asking me to send back, and it's a great gun. I dinked the trigger a little, pulled the mag safety and put several thousand rounds through it. Been using it in THE BEST DEFENSE, running drills, blah blah. It's hard to argue with a gun that shoots all the time, is accurate, easy to handle, etc. I figure if I ignore Ruger a little longer, they'll forget I have it...

Michael, I liked the trigger on the SR9 before I sent it in, but I love it now! It may not be huge for you, but the complimentary magazine was a big plus for me as well. Ruger may have disappointed some, but I'm still a loyal customer! I still don't believe that the SR9 was any less safe that any other firearms. I believe it was more of an issue of lawyer-proofing the gun. Either way, I've got a nice 9mm and payed a fair price for it!

M.B. send it in ... belive me when I say that you will NEVER tell the diffence between triggers .. that is what I really thouht too. but when I got mine back and started shooting it I could not tell the difference.REALLY .... Ithink it might be because of the middle peice is made out of plastic ??? I really think that YOU will not tell the difference ... P.S. I know that you are more schooled in firearms then I but I can't tell the difference ...

I've got to jump in here. MB has a retrofitted SR9 he can compare, and you can DEFINITELY tell the difference in the triggers. I didn't think there was ANY comparison between the two at all, but shoot them side by side and you'll see.

There was a difference for me---the retrofitted version has a lot shorter pull.

I preferred my old 7-1/2 lb pull. One of the gunsmith's at USSA took mine apart to see what he could do for the trigger and said that the SR-9 must be built for reliability and government contracts. Said the guts were build like a tank and would never wear out which was the reason he could not lighten the trigger. The firing pin, etc. was so massive they would never break or wear out but that mass required pull to operate and prevented lightening the trigger. I guess it was one of those trade off things for reliability. Maybe if they release the compacts they'll come with something closer to the 5-7 lb pull range again (and maybe it will be interchangeable with the full size model parts----YEAH--- :D )

That is consistent with Ruger's past handgun building mantra. It has it's pro's and con's---incidently, that why would can load the blackhawks in .45 LC beyond even the power of the .44 mag.
I'm not a target shooter in the first place, so a slightly heavy trigger pull in a heated engagement is not going to be that big of a deal. Who honestly remembers pulling the trigger while deer-hunting? My 760 has a terrible trigger, but I shoot deer every year with it...

I love the SR-9. It is a great shooter. The turn around time for the upgrade to the trigger was one week.
My hats off to Ruger. Great job.

"upgrade"

I'm excited about the SR-9 going on our state's list of approved handguns. We still only are approved for the Black/stainless version. As soon as the green one comes up, I'll get it ( as long as it makes it before the curtain goes down on guns that don't microstamp the cartridge).

I still like to shoot them a LOT!
Still think it could have been easier to detail strip (like a Glock or FNP), the safety a little bigger/longer, and the mags easier to load.
Not being able to get slides/bbl from the factory cuzz they require fitting is a bummer too.

"upgrade"
Yeah, "upgrade". ;)

We aren't talking about getting 40 S&W power out of a 9MM kind of heavy duty; that's not the upgrade I got. But the gunsmith said the guts would last forever and never break.
