Woman Shot After Man Drops Gun In Store
Man Says He Never Carried Pistol In Public Before
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville, Fla., woman waiting in line at a grocery store was shot when the man in front of her dropped a gun.
Seventy-year-old Flossie Mae Bell told police she was waiting to check out Friday afternoon when the man dropped a leather pouch and she felt a sudden pain in her leg. A store worker said he heard a loud pop.
Bell was treated at a local hospital.
Sixty-seven-year-old Woodrow Monlyn Jr. was arrested in connection with carrying a concealed firearm. He told police he had never carried the .25-caliber pistol in public before and didn't know he needed a permit.

Once again TAB successfully infuses his liberal brand of "Gun Stupidity" into these fine forums.

Tell me how respecting ones personal property is liberal? Its very simple, you make the rules for your property, I'll make the rules for mine.
-
Jim, TAB, neither one of you is going to change the other's mind. Let it go.

Yep, Guns free zones solve everything! (sarcasm).

If the property is open to the public then the laws that govern the public apply.... you cant just make up your own laws and have them obeyed....... hmmmmmm, I think we have had discussion in the past on other threads.
-
I blame Haz's big toe for Gun Free Zones. Jam on a CW is dangerous.
Magnum? How this for responses?
ps wth is the guy doing carrying a pistol in a sack?????

yes you can, it just depends on the state. tx 30-06 law come to mind. You already have the right to refuse service to anyone.
If I can ban people from walking around with no shirt or shoes, Why not other objects?( and don't say 2a... the 1a gives them the right to go shoe/shirtless if they want to make a statement) Infact in many place the health code requires it, for others its a insurance issue.

I would contend that anyone who bars me from carrying, though I have a Texas Conceald Handgun Licence, is also taking on the responsibility of keeping me safe in their place of business. That is what my survivors lawsuit would say anyway.

It would never stand up in court, You had a choice, you made it, live with it.

And how many cars are driven through businesses per year? NO MORE PARKING LOTS!
-
I know this will take the argument into the different direction of "free market" etc. etc. etc.....
...But I rather not give my business to someone who will hang a "No Guns Allowed" sign up in favor of giving it instead to someone more likely to hang up a "Kiss My Glock" sign. ;)
BTW..... Right to refuse service to anyone? Tell that to all those race baiters at the NAACP and the Rainbow Push Coalition -- not to mention the gay and lesbian activists..... One of the most dangerous things any small business owner can do is refuse service to someone. If you do, then you are risking losing your entire company. They just are able to get away with it currently with gun owners because we dont bring frivolous lawsuits to further our agenda.

Try again. Its very hard to prove discrimanation. Now, yes they could boycot me, that is thier choice, I won't stop them from doing it.
The diffrence here is you have a choice on rather or not you have a gun, blacks are always blacks. Just like you have a choice to use my service or not.
I infact just turned down a remodel from a gay couple, the fact that they were gay had nothing to do with it. The fact that they were both lawyers and ones that are known for sueing over spilt milk was. The last thing I need is to be sued over a 1/16" mistake from the contract document, I've seen it happen. They can sue me all they want. I'll just add it to the stack of lawsuits I already have going and move on.( 1 dead beat client, and from the aftermath of a disapearing contractor)

Wow.....We certainly got a discussion going now......And to think I complained because no one had replied :D
-
It's discrimination, just like "Coloreds Only" lunch counters.
-
I'm siding with TAB this time. Don't get used to it. ;D
Seriously though, if a store owner doesn't want anyone carrying in their store that's their prerogative. If you want to shop somewhere else, and tell him why, that's yours. If enough people leave and they know why, maybe they'll see the light.

Where oh, where are the real numbers on how many legal concealed carry permit holders commit crimes or accidental shootings with guns. That would solve the entire argument.
-
Where are the statistics on gun experts who shoot rental cars? ;D

There are not any... infact there are no solid numbers when it comes to guns.

He was already breaking the law by carrying a firearm, do you actually believe a sign would have made a difference.
