Hey guys ... think of what I'm going through!

Up here in the great white north we've got one of the greatest running backs of the year, except he can't hang on to the ball  >:(  He is the leading fumbler of the year, but at least we recovered his muffs about half the time;

We've got two average quarterbacks that make game day like picking the lesser of two evils;

And we have that wonderful time manager, Brad Childress, who with 29 seconds on the clock at the end of the game, the ball on the their 30, and down by two points waits 20 seconds before calling a time out  >:(  With nine seconds left they call a time out to ice the kicker, so we respond by sending Jackson back in to run another play from scrimmage   ???  Following an incomplete pass we rush the kicking team out just in time to get the game winning field goal  :-\

Depending on which team shows up at the Dome next Sunday afternoon it may be a quick experience in the post season  :'(

Well, M58 I guess we'll see you next week. My Eagles kicked the crap out of those vacuum packed Cowboys yesterday. Talk about "Which team will show up"?  They invented that phrase for the Eagles. If you don't have the recievers following the D-backs on their routes, you've got McNabb drilling for oil with the football. Should be a good game if both teams swing in the same direction for the day.

Its a sad day when 8-8 wins a division, and they get to play the Colts at home too.

Doesn't hurt that bad, I stopped watching football when Brittney Spears and Aerosmith shared the same stage at a Superbowl...a gapping hole was torn in the universe!!!

The Pats were 11-5 and the Lions were 0-16 and neither made the playoffs!!!!!

+1

NFL started sucking when they went to four team divisions. They should do it like the SEC. Divide each conference into east and west divisions and take the top three teams from each for the play-offs. Not perfect, but better IMO.

San Diego makes it in at 8-8 and New England is out at 11-5.

Oh well, there would still be controversy either way.  ;)

It's a looong story.

Dad worked for Ford finance, Southfield, MI. Two games on Sunday in the 60s. Hapless, fat, out of shape Lions (unlike today, where they are just hapless and fat) and the national game. That game almost always involved the 'Boys. Flashy, fun, not generally hapless. Been a fan ever since come hell or high water.

Ok - story is not that long.  ;D

I was a Cowboys fan when Tom Landry run the show. Polished professionals. You don't see a lot of that discipline these days. I know most are good guys, but many are overpaid thugs.

My thought would be to stay with four divisions;
Play the other teams in your division twice;
Play the other conference teams once;
Replace one preseason game with a regular season game, and eliminate the bye week (these two changes would keep the season the same lenght but make it 18 games);
And go into the playoffs with the top team from each division.

No wild cards, and no controversy over easy or tough schedule.  Only controversy would be the yearly rotation on who gets homegame and who's on the road for the once a season match ups.

Better yet ... accept it is a game meant for entertainment, and we all put way too much importance on it!  The only reason it is big business is because we are stupid enough to give millionare owners our tax money, and pay way too much for tickets to make players into millionares for doing what they paid to play in their youth.

You are very correct there.
That's why the only articles I have related to the NFL were gifts that I had no control over. I have never been (nor do I desire to go) to a NFL game.
It just does not rank that high on my priority list.
(now drag racing on the other hand.......)

STEELERS!!!!!!!!!

lol, my aunt and I used to live for Cowboys - Steelers matchups.

 I've no problem with anyone rooting for any team... as long as it's always that team, 'for better or for worse'. Single guys need to suffer a bit too.  ;D

Back when Tom knelt the team down before every game to thank the Good Lord for the privilage of playing for a living!

The "Heidi game"  I forget who was playing in the superbowl but the network cut the last minute or so of the game to show Heidi, the trailing team came from behind and won.

Bud Grant used to teach his players how to line up for the National Anthem - Straight line along the sideline, heals together on the edge of the line, helmet under left arm, and all eyes on the Flag.  No talking, no looking around, no fidgitting!  Of course, he was the same coach that didn't care who you were, how good you were in college, or how long you had been in the league, everyone started every season with the basics.  And if you screwed up you started over again in mid season.

Immaculate reception. But more importantly, on a REAL team, Staubach came off the bench to lead the Cowboys to a major come-from-behind against San Fran.  :)

I didn't watch all of the 'boys / iggles game - couldn't bear it - but from  what I did see, I have to say that there's plenty of blame to go around.  On the interception I saw Romo throw, yeah, he's the QB, and he takes the stat hit for the interception, but Roy Williams gave up on that route.  No big surprise there.

The whole team needs a collective butt-whuppin.

Don't worry.
Misery loves company. I've been a Falcons fan for thirty years.
Other than a few gleaming moments in the sun, nothing stellar there.
