Title: Kansas state Senator looks to make lighters illegal

Yes, I am serious. Get out your ID if you wish to buy a .99 cent Bic.....

Kansas state Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau, (D-Wichita) whose Senate Bill 106 would make it illegal for a retailer to sell cigarette lighters to anyone under 18 and also make it illegal for anyone under 18 to have a lighter.

Why?

Quote
“Too many children have access to cigarette lighters because the lighters are displayed in stores where children can easily see them, reach them, take them or purchase them,” said state Sen. Oletha Faust-Goudeau, D-Wichita.

Quote
“In our fire prevention efforts, we feel that there is absolutely no reason for any child under the age of 18 to have free access to or possess a cigarette lighter or any open flame device,” said Lt. Mark Chairs of the Wichita Fire Department.

If the bill passes, it will cost the people of Kansas $248,000 in start-up costs to conduct the proposed required inspections.

Maybe they can start marketing small lighter sized GunVaults so smokers can light up and at the same time keep them free from litigation by preventing their 16 year old from having access to their lighters.

ITS FOR THE CHILDREN!

E12,

I knew you were serious.  NO ONE could make up such idiocy.  (except a liberal!)

The kids today probably don't know how to use those "strike anywhere" matches anyway,..... ::)

So taking the lighters away makes perfect sense for the nanny state mentality.

Come on after all  ITS FOR THE CHILDREN!

Absolutely!

To the best of my knowledge they don't make them anymore (used to work in grocery stores). When we could get them about half of them would be burnt.

Back to lighters, in Hellinois it is already illegal for any one under 18 to buy (but not posses) any smoking material. that includes lighters. Not really enforced though.

"It's for the children" ? My a$$, it's so some ditsy liberal sorority genius can make political news and hear her name spoken without those inflections of disgust her husband uses when he tells her he's working late, when in fact he is mastubating becuase the sex and company are both better.

All I can say is, well, nothing. It just boggles my mind.  ??? Where do these people come from? And why can't they go torture normal citizens of New York city or LA where they belong? ( No offense to normal "coasties"! )

I REALLY like being in "Fly Over Country" as a lot of this stupidity just sails right over my head. Occasionally though the jet's toilet dump valves freeze open and drop some of these people on us anyway.  ::)

God bless the USA....    Even those who make ordinary life miserable for those who are of sound mind and thought.

Thank God I live in Texas, were i dont have to flee from a suspect, or hide in my own house from Mr. BadGuy.

As Ron White said,"Texas has the death penalty, and we USE it."

Thanks for adding the Express Lane   ;)
