Title: About to drop a wad, any advice?
Post by: garand4life on April 02, 2009, 05:34:44 PM
Monday I'm going in to buy my new mini-boom stick. I'm looking at a Glock 22 w/night sights for just over $400. The concern I have is that it's a generation 2 model. Now the dealer I'm buying it from has over the last couple of years given me awesome deals that they don't normally give out to others. (Yes I know this as fact) My question is 1) Is this way overpriced? I've seen some on GunsAmerica and Gunbroker for less but by the time you add shipping and transfer fees it isn't that much of a difference. And 2) I have an M&P .40 and absolutely love it! As someone who likes standardizing and making sure that what ever I depend on in bad times can be repaired and that I am able to get parts easily, is there anything that might be a better option. Maybe an XD or something similar? Is there anything out there that might be more worth wild to add to the arsenal?
Taurus 1911, Ruger LCP, M&P .40 and M&P 15, M1 Garand, Mossberg 500

Glock parts are still all over the gun shows and the 22 is one of the top cop guns in the Country. I have a 2nd generation 23 and I don't miss the finger grooves when shooting it. Just over $400 would be good around here.

Since you already have an M&P .40, you may want a firearm that fills a missing category in your quiver. Do you have a shotgun, a carbine, etc.? If you already have some of each and are just grabbing deals, go for it.

I have my AR-15 from S&W (love it)... I also have my Mossberg 500 with the 18.5" barrel and my M1 Garand. I don't have any revolvers, mainly because I don't enjoy shooting them and I have good carry guns like my LCP and my M&P as well as a good 1911. So this, I guess you could say, is to just conform to the wide world of Glocker's.

It sounds like a fair price to me.... and the fact is that you'd be supporting a dealer that already has hooked you up... Is it a fair price to you?  In my experience, chasing internet gun deals to save 5% usually ends up not being worth it in time, effort and lost opportunity to continue to work with your local guy!

Looked at a 2nd generation Glock 22 today at the local gun shop. They wanted $450 for a used G22. If it was $400, I probably would have bought it.

I paid $549.00 for my G22 and i have no complaints here. This gun has seen a least 3,500 round of ammo and kick ass. Im a Glockfool. Glocks work no matter what, and get it before I do.

I would be on it. Both my 19 and seventeen have the smooth grip. Personally, I prefer. If wearing gloves or grab it in a hurry, its one less thing to worry about.
