http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9J3j74R9dbwNow thats what I'm talking about! Good lord, thats worth the price of admision right there. I never got to see John Lee Hooker play live but I have a whole lot of very worn casettes that I have listened to a zillion times I hope this thread keeps growing because so far, people's taste in music is as good as their taste in guns. Screw politics, lets focus on the important stuff.
The Blues....
Any blues...T- Bone, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Stevey Ray, Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, really verbose riffs of Johnny Winter....anything!
Here are GREAT blues http://bluebone.net/ by our very own JayBet! ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ5SVDYBNrYDamn man! I didn't think anyone remembered In Living Color. Thats right up there with Whitesnake and winger in bad hairbands trivia category. ;D Great call on Zevon though. However I'll see you and raise with Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.
Remind you of any one ?
;D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5puAN1PGQw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NedwmkhHpKI&feature=relatedOne of my favorite songs..... but if you ever needed a lesson in why white people should not be allowed to "dance"....yikes!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiYyHNgeFA8
Any hard-driving blues shuffle in which the players are "going for it" lights me up and makes me look forward to ANYTHING.Post some of your stuff, man. I'd offer up some Guy Forsyth in return but the girlfriend took those CDs. A cold hearted bitch, but she did have good taste. ;D

This is the kind of thing that lights me up and makes me feel good. Listen through...the drummer kicks everyone's ass ALL NIGHT LONG.

There are a few that the embedding code was disabled.. so I did a search on other sites and found some of them on other players. but some I couldn't find.( but I tried) :)What song brings you back to running naked through the sprinklers? ;D
To tell you the truth I was jammin'... what kick ass songs... Never had so much fun embedding in my life.. Loved the tunes...
Now... when I catch my breath, I'm going to post a few myself.. :D
Isn't it funny how you can hear a song and it will super sonic speed you immediately to that time in your life when you were hearing it for the first time or when an event was taking place and the song was playing....?
I relate a song with just about everything in my life..
Love it!
Great thread!!!

Pity you didn't remember that in 1804 the British were the ENEMY, egging on the recently defeated Barbary ragheads to continue attacking American shipping.Ok, I'm puzzled. I get dinging me on the patriotism thing, but if so why give a (very cool) UK marching tune? Here's an American one.
I prefer this one, F sentiment.
Try BB King's Bluesville, I think channel 73.
As I grow older I find my taste in music broadening a bit. I grew up with classic rock and it all went to hell in the Disco Age. Fortunately, punk rock brought back some piss and vinegar. ;D It gave me a reason to smile. These days I find myself despising the new generation of punks and the wannabe bands like The Bravery, All American Rejects, Weezer, et al.
Always did like Johnny Cash and Waylon and Willie though I never bought music from the last two. Hank Williams Jr. has an attitude that anyone can appreciate.
Guess I am getting older and wiser. But I still love my old school Hardcore Punk Rock!!!
Keith Whitley tears my heart out! I loved his music.
Makes you want to set in a Honkey Tonk Saloon..grab some beer and cry in it.. ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-owDmKJfUkRight there with you Swoop, I would have posted it myself if I had thought about it. Good catch, cause thats the real damn deal. I offer this in return, different genre, but same vibe. I am once again dating myself, but for Social D's Ball and Chain I'll live with it. 8)
I don't know how, but I had forgotten all about this one. ???

Marianne Faithful, not bad.Oh please! It was a shot at Tom for saying I'm a sexist for dissing Palin when he doesn't even think that women should be allowed to vote. Don't tell me its not justified. I'm not endorsing the actresses, just having a liitle fun. Lighten up Path. Its all said with a smile.
A movie with Susan Sarandon, the screaming gun-hating Harpy of the left, are you kidding? No, just another swing and a miss by our resident liberal in Libertarian clothing FQ.

Love the Aerosmith Version.
Still have an Alvin Lee version on cassette (God that is sad),...for the same song, and the one he did at Woodstock, which I forgot the title,..
Something like.....
Don't ask me what shape I'm in,
Can't sing, ain't pretty, and my legs are thin,..
"Don't ask me what I think of you,
I might not give the answer that you want me to." ;D
Alvin jammed for sure.
If I break out the Vanilla Fudge, you guys are doomed... ;)
Am I just in melancholy cry mode today or what.. :-\

Loved it!!
Sorry Dakota... but I love George Jones..
Plus 1000 on Kelly Willis! She is the second sexiest voice in country music (that will always belong to Emmylou). Kelly has the spirit though, no BS, just country, and no, I won't sing an Eagles song, kiss my Texan ass. This isn"t a great example of her voice, but one of the best pieces of Texas Hill Country music that I've ever heard. Its Kelly and Jay Farrar doing Townes Van Zandt's Rex's Blues (if you're from Austin or thereabouts, you what I'm talking about). If "country" stations still gave a damn, it would be on the radio. I also included a bit with her and Dwight Yokum doing Geoge Jones just to show off her voice. Did I mention that I miss Austin? God bless Texas!
FQ13
Another gorgeous lady of country, and one of the few recent country artists who ain't just another pop singer....See, this what I'm talking about. The only problem I have with her is the back beat. Its eighties soft rock. Don't rock it if you can swing it. What ever happened to fiddles and a pedel steel? Lose the band. Hell shoot them for all I care. Give me a real no BS country back up and I would love this song. Compare to Emmylou's Two More Bottles of Wine. Same spirit, but she uses a country backbeat. Check it out. Its a great song and tells us all we need to know about the difference between country, and pop with cowboy hats. I like your girl, I like her lyrics, but for God's sake, shoot tefreakin' band. Its nice, but it ain't country.

Walter45Auto ...............If you can 2 step.....would you marry me?
Your taste in music is perfectly to the tee identical to mine.. from the Eagles to all the country.. so I have ask Marshal if I can marry you and he wasn't crazy about it .. in fact he said he wouldn't let me go....in fact he went in to get his guns out........but .who cares...we can both shoot back....... :D...can't we??
Its your fault for posting all that country music.. Now you have really gone and done it..
I told you it made me easy like melted butter.. Now what are you gonna do.. ?? Huh??
Got yourself in a country music state of mind mess and you sucked me right into it with you........
Oh yeah.. I AM a redneck girl too.. and I have a truck.. and guns..and I can hunt..and fish and I can cook.....and ride horses.. and work cattle.. and 2 step..and swing dance.................. and ..ahhhhh all those "other things"..that is just too good to mention.
So.....is that enough or do I need more........ LOL

You and I think exactly alike.. Country Music can touch on every little piece of my life and does...every second of every day!
Good luck with your new lady... Don't over think it..

Its country, not soft rock! >:( Bob Wills got it, Waylon got it and even the freaking Rolling Stones got the memo. What the hell keeps "country" radio from getting it?

Personally, this scene keeps playing over and over in my head:
Kevin Fowler - 100% Texan
dead skunk in the middle of the road - Loudon Wainright IIITwo days after dad was killed my sister had to copy some papers over at the school, well none of us were really in good shape so we called our neighbors to have them take her over to copy them. As she gets into the outfit she starts to smell a skunk, the smell followed them as the got to the school to make copies and kept getting stronger. They both looked at each other said shoot it's almost like the skunk got in here. Then Patsy looked at my sisters jeans...she took a direct shot to the leg. Well, so they comeback to the house and come to the front door. NO ONE ever used the front door unless they were a stranger looking for a hand out. AGAIN we were ALL in bad shape and not wanting to deal with a panhandler I refused to answer the door. I felt bad after I found out it was my sister.
Willie Nelson - Maria (Shut Up And Kiss Me)You know Walter, the the thing I love about this post is this. If that bar were anywhere in Texas, Willie, even at his age would have a decent shot her. That's Gods reward for never selling out. ;D

Not sure about "Troubled Times", but I saw Elvis in Omaha in 1977. Was dragged kicking and screaming by the girl I was dating at the time. Told her that if she wanted to hear some fat guy sing we could stay home and I'd sing for her. I don't know what it was about Elvis, but something about that old, fat, soon-to-be-dead man(Elvis, not me) caused that cute little 19 year old coed to rape me in the parking lot after the show.
Thanks Elvis!!! ;D
You DO realize that "John Henry" was a Civil war euphemism for an escaped slave, also known as "contraband".Also an American folk hero ala Paul Bunyan. "John Henry" was one of the first "crossover' hits. It was sung by white and black musicians. Records were sold in both markets going way back. It became a hit in the '40s. Sort of like Elvis, a foot in both worlds.
Enjoyed that BIC, I envy you, in and around Fredericksburg, is some of Texas most beautiful spots to be around, the town is cool, the food is great as is the hunting. Hot sometimes, but hell, we are Texans.
Now playing, 1 hit wonder band, you all know some tunes by the opening lick, this is one, done by many, but these losers did it best in my opinion, Gold top Les Paul, done right, if you don't like southern rock, then just bypass.
this is my Fav version of that song
and yes they are Aussie however I do like both ;)
BANNED IN THE USA!
It ain't the America I grew up in is all I can say. :-\
True Bill sung it much better, but I don't think Patsy Cline's version was bad.Its not me you need to worry about its the rest of your family. When they realize the shame you have brought upon them by posting that, well....
Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus
Ok.... Ok.... I just posted that one to annoy FQ...... ;D
Johnny Bravo and I were talking last night, and it turns out we have a lot of common interests, this song is one that cannot be had for love or money, sung best by the original artist, Allen Wayne Damron, but the lyrics are still great, so here go's.
GRINGO PISTOLERO
Allen Wayne Damron, Tim Henderson
When the bandit Chico Cano crossed the river at Boquillas,
Stole the young bride of the rancher Juan Otero,
Juan caught up his fastest mare, and up to Marathon he rode,
To hire himself a gringo pistolero.
Send the word along the river; tell it through the borderland,
That the hound of death is howling after Chico Cano's band.
Juan will seal their fate as surely as the rising of the sun,
With the guns of the Gringo Pistolero.
The round hat of a trooper cast a shadow 'cross his eyes,
As he listened to the tale of Juan Otero.
At the name of Chico Cano there could be no talk of price,
Just the Gringo's vow of vengeance: "Yo arrero."
He oiled his big Colt automatics, and by daylight he was gone.
With the coming cold and darkness he rode into Castollon,
And a drunken bandit caught there read the message, "Talk, or die!"
In the eyes of the Gringo Pistolero.
Where the Canyon Colorado twists its way among the rocks
And the ribbon of the sky is long and narrow,
In a jacal of adobe bruised and tied up on the floor
Wept the sweet wife the rancher Juan Otero.
Bandit mirrors in the cliff top flash the message "Now he comes"
Asked the number of his followers, the number of their guns.
The aviso flashed to Chico like the falling of a stone:
"He comes alone, the Gringo Pistolero."
Hidden high above the canyon where the falcon rides the wind,
Chico's best hawkeyed aviso, Juan Romero,
Tucked his mirror in his shirt and gazed with worry towards the rocks
Where he last had seen the Gringo Pistolero.
Put the sights up to eight hundred, hold a yard left for the wind,
And there's one by-god aviso that will never flash again.
Weeping red tears from a third eye that's a gift he cannot feel
From the Springfield of the Gringo Pistolero.
"Chico Cano, you have stole your last damn US dollar bill.
I have come for you and all your companjeros.
You can fight and do your damnedest or just send the lady out,"
Came the echo of the Gringo Pistolero.
Bandit rifles down the canyon to the left and to the right,
Fearful eyes that watch and waited till the falling of the light,
Angry cutthroats who ignore the weeping lady on the floor,
And through the back door came the Gringo Pistolero.
Big Colt autos spitting thunder death at everything that moved,
Flashing lightning in the jacal long and narrow,
Ending hate and greed and cruelty with final flying truth
From the sure hand of the Gringo Pistolero.
One hot and smoking pistol dropped down empty in the dirt
And another flashed like magic from inside the Gringo's shirt,
And the lead storm never stopped 'til there was no one left unhurt,
But the lady and the Gringo Pistolero.
Word is spread to Ojinaga where the Conchos tumble down
And a man's death can come swifter than an arrow,
That although the law can be empty words until justice could be found,
For no border stopped the Gringo Pistolero.
And the old wives tell how Juan's bride came back beautiful and fair,
Lived happily through children and years of silver hair,
But the young girls said that Otero did not treat her well back there
So she left him for the Gringo Pistolero.
Haz~~~ Oh hell!~~!~ I LOVE those 2 songs...
;D ;D
Well... the redneck country ones who are a little on the trashy side.. ;D

Now I'm just getting depressed ...
-----------------------
Was out to the shed for more corn this morning, and there it sat ... Almost a month under cover, and I'm thinkin' snow tires ::)
Well, just move down here and ride year-round. ;D
My co-workers used to look at me like I was crazy when I'd pull up at 0730 with temps in the high 20's....no windshield or full face helmet.........good leathers along with just goggles and a bandanna over the lower face and I was good to go.
Just heard this on the radio today, Listen to the end of the video ;)Damn! I think I just found my new favorite song. No BS, just how I feel. It pisses everybody off, which is kind of the point., Not looking for trouble, just telling the truth. Thanks for that one. Mikey likes it! ;D

Chart topping UK singer Adele pulled out of singing (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman at the 11th hour, citing illness that stopped her hitting her higher register.
With less than an hour to rehearse the song, Goodrem stepped in and received a standing ovation from the crowd for the song made famous by Aretha Franklin.

I like this a bit better than Bowie's version.
Mott the Hoople.
Bowie also sang it. He's the one who wrote it.
One more, just because she is the perfect woman. :-\ ;) Anyway, here's her take on Townes Van Zandts' "Pancho and Lefty". Its a classic. And did I mention that they make some pretty good country music in Austin Tx., and screw Nashville? ;D

I'll concur on her talent and her looks but she's from Alabama I believe...I was referring to Townes who wrote and Willy who made famous, "Pancho and Lefty".
Now THAT is a real country song! Give us the specs.
"Seamus Ennis plays a reel"Nice Bic. I can squeeze out a few tunes on the highland pipes if you don't expect the fancy grace notes, but the Uilleann pipes? Hell, I'd sprain an arm just strapping them on. He's a better man than I am. ;D
on the uileann pipes, a plumbers nightmare of an instrument if there ever was one. His mastery belies it's difficulty.

A tribute to Clint as "The Man With No Name" with a soundtrack by the Pogues. If you can tell me how that can get better I'll kiss your ass. ;D

Been a Tab Benoit fan for years. Great tune.
Sorry to disappoint FQ, but I very seldom listen to the music posts.Do yourself a favor and make an exception here. I have never lied to you before.Pissed you off, yes. Lied, no. I think you'll be happy you listened to the song.
Since Tom has declared me, wait for it, a genius ;D, I feel entitled to revel in it a bit. Fortunately for all concerned, I will give you a kick ass song called "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy". Its a fun tune and the fact that it will irritate Tom? That's just gravy. ;)
FQ13 who says any tune with a black college marching band with banjos, and hot chicks in pinstriped suits so short they can't tie their shoes without flashing the world is worth a watch. And did I mention horses and midgets? ;D;)
You have to click on the link as youtube ain't cooperating (plus there's a thirty second commercial, but its worth it). f..k'em. Its a great song and redneck to redneck, its worth a listen.

Here you go Bic... ;D
Thanks Majer!..........how do you do that?
Frohliche Weihnachten!
No offence Phil, but....
A) Was that supposed to be music?
and
B) Did it really take this long for the '80s to get to Australia? ;D

OK.
When I'm down I like to play something comical to chuckle away my blues.
Being of both Irish & Scott heritage, I usually play a Drinking song one might hear in a Pub in Ireland
Here is a little ditty called "The Drunk Scotsman". I hope you like it

Damn, Phil. Time for us to start lobbing more missiles your way . . . . ;D
Sad thing is, that was bad enough for MB to put on his podcast, so we may have to listen to it again. ::) ;) In the meantime, where's that damn ear bleach when you need it? ? ? ? ?
From your mouth to Gods ear! If you and TT do mount a write in campaign, that should be the theme song. "Boo-yah, you ragheaded bastards, we in the mother fuzzin house!" (or some PC version of that) I'm Tom Bogan, and I approved this message. ;D. Gets my vote.
