I do.

I stew them in red chilies till the meat litterly falls off the bone.    Shread the meet and it makes a great taco filling.

Anyone that knows me knows that Dove season is my FAVORITE hunt of the year! I will be like a Little kid tonight. I'll have my shotgun and shells and my bucket and my bag  ( and my bag of sunflower seeds)  ;D  all set out by the door ready to be in the field bright and early.
We have a kick ass spot this year. right next to our property..we have about 80-100 acres of native foxtail and sunflowers that Derek mowed yesterday with the tractor.. On the back side of the windrow of timber there is a pond . ( Can you  say..... "perfect Dove place?"  ;D
The doves were coming in there by the droves before he mowed.. but after he was done there were hundreds in there. We have about 10-15 people... need about 20 to really be strung out good.. but I can't wait!!
Eat them?? Well hell yes we eat them! LOL
I even save and clean the little gizzards and livers to fry and mix in with my dove cream gravy to go over the mashed potatoes and biscuits.  My mouth is watering thinking of it now.. Yummy~~~~

We have doves, the almighty State of Iowa hath decreed that we lowly peasants are forbidden to shoot the King's doves.

and nothing but cut sunflowers and foxtail seed all over the 100 acres we are going to be in..

Heaven I tell you.. pure unadulterated heaven...........

Actually, you do. Dove hunting is the great exception to the rule of fewer guns=better hunting. Enough folks in the field keeps the birds in the air and makes for a better day. Texas actually did this the right way and leased some private lands (good ones to, with stock tanks and gravel pits etc.). Just for dove. They were only open on three non-secutive days of the week so the birds didn't get scared off. I more than got my money's worth for $50 management stamp.

Just checked the Hunting Abstracts for Massachusetts.  We have no dove hunting, probably not on the migration routes.

What we DO have is pretty much an open season on crows......There are only two months in the summer you can't shoot crows, other than that, blast away, no bag limit of any kind.....  ;D

Going Dove hunter with my son on Friday. Never shot Dove before. Haven't been in the field in years. Since I gave my hunting shotgun to my son years ago, I will be using my Remington 870 pump with 18in barrel. Any bets on whether I'll hit anything? Doesn't matter cause I'll be out with my son.

No dove hunting in Michigan.  The animal rights anti-hunting wackos got it on the ballot as a citizens intiative a fee years ago.  They did a great marketing job and the citizens voted not to allow hunting of the cute little song birds.  According to the wackos it is only a blood sport and no one eats them.  Doves had not been a game species in Michigan before that recently except for I think the year before when the DNR tried a trial season I think in the counties that border Indiana.  The only way to change it now is another citizen's vote.

M'Ette, some year I'd like to take you up on that hunt.

I'm going to make a small slideshow to put on here at the end of the week ..but I wanted to share just a few pictures of our dove field that I took this morning. Birds flew good.. I almost limited out this morning..and almost limited out tonight.. I lost 4 birds though in the danged weeds.. I can mark those things right on when they are falling and when they hit the ground..... walk right to "where I am sure it hit".. and sometimes just can't find it.  :-\   We lost several in the bean field that was butted up to the field of ours.
( Thank you to the few who I texted to death  while I was in the field...who had to listen to me bitch and cuss..  ;D ;D ;D  )  I appreciate the humorous reply's while  I was struggling with my lead and also I had a stupid improved choke. screwed in instead of my modified..  >:( ( which I didn't realize and had forgotten because I've been shooting a lot of sporting clays )  so I was trying to reach out there and shoot LOOOOONG shots.. and just staggering the birds.. Their ass would drag down and I'd catch some feathers and the little &%^$#@ would gather their power and keep flying..
Grrrr..........
Derek was to the west of me...hollering at me "Mom... shorten your shots up!".. and texted me WHY I had to do that..
Hence the realization of the choke tubes.  ::)
... So when I finally started listening to my son...  :P  I started hitting more..  :)
Anyway... can't wait until morning again...

(The person in the far background is Derek..*so you know how loud he had to holler at me.. LOL)

Sweet field. And did I mention that if I get an invite I come with a dog? Now granted, those of you who have read my posts know that the beast comes with a mixed history, and she wont retrieve worth a damn (eat andswallow whole yes, retrieve not so much), but she will point dead. No more lost birds, except for the occasional scooby snack. ;D

Spray and Pray Don....good luck!

Spray and Pray did not work...came up empty. Had fun being out with my son and a couple of his friends. I need a field shotgun!  Made up for it in the afternoon. Shot a Kriss Super V full-auto. All shots in a 5-in circle at 15 feet.

Don,  As I am sure you know Mossberg makes a damn good shotgun and you can get a new field gun for ~300.

I'd take my dad's Winchester 1300 defender if I got to go dove hunting. Cause I hit better with it than with a longer barreled shotgun. (Put my 28 inch Charles Daly on consignment at a shop cause I couldn't hit with it.) Also, my double barrel needs a new stock.
