Had to go to hell-mart last night for a late evening honey-do and swung by the sporting goods counter as usual. No ammo that I need, also as usual. (.380, 9mm, .40 S&W) I just happened to say hi to the dept. manager and she asked what I was looking for and I told her. She said that they had just gotten in a whole case of .380 Win White Box!!! They haven't had any of that anywhere around my little town for MONTHS! Needless to say I bought the whole case of 5 boxes. I can finally shoot my LCP, HOORAY! My usual carry gun now has ammo. That makes it a lot more effective, btw. ;D
Anyway, I just had to crow about finally finding some I could afford. When I got the LCP a few months back the guy pulled the LCP out of the display case but pulled his one and only box of 50 rounds of .380 out of the safe! LOL. ;D

You're in Montana man!!!!!!! You have some of the best upland hunting in the US plus deer and elk. Not owning a 12 gauge and some form of mule deer/elk whacker is like not owning a fly rod. What's the point of living there. Get thee a Savage in .300 Win mag and a versatile 12 in your choice of configuration and take advantage of the paradise you live n!

Forgot to add one of the best cartridges ever.
The Swedish Mauser 6.5x55 developed in 1891. Older than the 30-30, 7x57, 30.06, and .45 auto. The original 8mm Mauser I think predates it by a couple of years, but the I think the 8mm was changed not unlike the .30-03 became the 06 we all know. The 6.5 will take virtually anything in North America and much of what the rest of the world has to offer. It's paper ballistics belie what it is readly capable of doing. It is truly a great cartridge with little recoil, phoenominal penetration, and outstanding accuracy.

Oh, hell, why not? .577 T-rex!
Nothing says dislocated shoulder like a .577 T-rex! ;D

Is that 6.5 Swede easy to find? My dad had one back in the early 80's and said he traded it towards a pistol because he couldn't hardly find ammo for it.

Easier now than it used to be, but it's still not something you will find at Wally World. Better if you reload for it.

don't forget the .340 weatherby, or its little brother the .257

Jakel, as a professor of Con law, you don't have a sawed off anything. You might own an 18 inch riot gun that is perfectly legal. You own nothing else. You have never heard of hacksaws. If it were me, I would delete that post.
