Title: Quakers Majic Mojito, Like a Hazerita only more down state
Post by: fightingquaker13 on September 25, 2009, 12:49:01 AM
Allright folks
Tx Bryan dissed my drink of choice, the mojito. I will admit they are a pain to make, but worth it. As the summer ends, these are a great way to end the day on a Saturday afternoon. As Haz put up the famous Hazerita I can do no less.

Quaker's Majic Mojito
(which will kick your ass, so the limit is one if you even think about driving, no BS, lots of rum and it taste like lime aid, do be careful with these puppies or you will drink them like water which leads to very bad things ;D)

For one (large) drink
Get a martini shaker and a Guiness style pint glass

1/2 cup Bacardi Limon
1 Tb sour mix (equal parts fresh lemon and lime juice)
4 ts simple syrup (for many drinks use 3 and 1/2 cups water brought to a low boil. Slowly stir in an equal amount of sugar till it dissolves. This will keep for days in the fridge once you make it and its easy as pouring piss out of a boot, even an Aggie can do it, or so I've been told  ;D)
1/8 cup soda (Schwepps preferred)
1/4 cup mint leaves minus stems
1/4 lime cut into three thin slices

Put the mint and lime and simple syrup at the bottom of a pint glass.Muddle (crush for us rednecks) with a honey dripper or spoon or whatever Use a stalk of sugar cane if you live in Fl and want to  get hard core, but that requires a guyabara (which hides an IWB nicely) and a nice cigar and is not for amateurs. The point is to crush the mint leaves and get some (though not all, eg don't squeeze) the juice from the lime.

Add rum and sour and mix

fill the glass with ice and top with the soda.
Shake with a Martini shaker
Enjoy at your own risk, avoiding cars, guns and women who suddenly look a whole lot more attractive than they did an hour ago. Its a bit of a hassel to prep, but you can make a dozen or two as easily as one and they are darn good.

Drink it all, let the liver sort it out!

I'll try most drinks once, a second time if I like it!
Given the choice between beer and Hazaritas/Mojitos the beer is still in the fridge.  Beer is a "can't find anything else/I'm to lazy to make something" drink.

Something to try:
Coke
Stoli Razburi Vodka-from the FREEZER (the only place to store it)

I'd make this in a 32oz cup and be GOOD for the evening! (not going ANYWHERE)

It's a proven fact among bartenders that the more complex the drink, the better the tip.
Personally I'm for Vodka ( as JNevis says, from the freezer ) + either OJ or Grapefruit juice. (and a crappy tip  ;D  )

True, but there is also the hassel factor. My old boss, about 6'4" and three hundred pounds of Texan with one of those gravelly Sam Elliot kind of voices, used to tend bar. He hated cleaning the blenders. When a guy ordered a margarita he used to ask "Do want rocks, or frou frou style"? He rarely had to clean the blender for a male customer. ;D

Actually its the ice,or lack thereof that got me into rum and tequila. I like to backpack and just don't like whiskey or vodka. A good shot of dark rum or anjeo tequila though....its a nice end to the day.

Chivas Regal in a rocks glass, then bring the ice cubes within sight of the scotch before putting it back in the fridge.  (Why water down good scotch?)

Well, having an ice cube or two in the glass of scotch awakens the taste of the liquor..... its kind of like swirling a glass of wine to get oxygen into the wine..... It really makes it taste like what it is supposed to taste like.... you just have to let the ice sit and melt a little in the glass to get the full effect.

And here I thought the Quakers had a testimony against alcohol. At least that is what they told us in college and I went to a Quaker college. To paraphrase Joe Wilson, "they lied."  ;)

Your drink is too much work FQ. Sounds ok. Try mixing orange vodka with lemonade. It's a great lake drink. Even a Tsipper can make it. So I've been told. I'm in on the rum ! ;D Gig'em!!

So if there was a fight between Texas and Texas A&M after a long day of mojitos, scotch, etc.  who would win and what would they use for weapons?

UT: Wit, cultivation and enough intelligenge to pour piss out of a boot. Not to mention a high powered rifle and the marksmanship required to hit a moving target from a 20 story tower at a range of 1/2 mile. ;D
The Aggies: Unfocused aggression, genuine bafflement and a rock.

See, and here I just got done dissing Tx Bryan, and now we're going to have to team up and kick your ass before we can get to one another. That's just irritating. Do y'all even have a football team? Just askin'. PS We never lynched anyone on campus. And, one of the hottest grad students on the planet, 5'4" of blond Tyler Texas girl got a job at Baylor. The "morality" clause said she couldn't drink. I went to visit her and we went to her local hangout. They poured her beer into a coffee mug. What's up with that? This is a woman who announced to a former prof at a conference (who desperately wanted to have a more than professional relationship with her) that she couldn't join him at a reception because she had a date. He asked, teasingly, not nastily to his credit, if she had protection. She gave the patented "dumb blond" smile (and if you bought that, your life expectancy was measured in seconds), reached into her purse and pulled out a condom and a .38 Smith and asked "Do you think I'm covered"? And you people make this woman drink her beer from a coffee mug. Enough said. Barbarians!

1. The lynching was done in downtown Waco....not at Baylor.....and those Waco people are crazy enough as is....that's why Baylor built the "Bubble"....  ;D

2. Baylor doesn't need a football team....the Law School and Business School grads just represent the players (for a significant percentage) and marry the rich ones....  8)

3. Baylor morality clauses don't have as much pull as they used to.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hHpgJ3UWng (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hHpgJ3UWng)  :D

4. If the women at UT and TAMU are so hot, why do the T'Sippers & Aggies come to BU to see their girlfriends?....  :-*

UT & TAMU can argue about sports....in the end, the Baylor grads are the ones gettin' paid....  ;D

The thing is Peg, if you go over seeker two's points, do you notice how every single one them is an equivication? The lynching wasn't actually ON campus? We don't really NEED a football team (That's the spirit!)? The morality clause has lightened to the point a Texas girl can PROBABLY drink beer in public like a normal American. And, oh yeah, how come the UT and Aggie boys are visiting their Baylor girlfriends? Three words, one from Tom, two from me. Easy, cheap and skanky. ;D Me thinks seeker might just have graduated from Baylor law school, the SECOND best in the state. 8) 8) 8)
