Girl, 10, Tasered in her home
She wouldn't take a shower
Mum gave permission
A US police officer used a Taser stun gun to subdue a "combative" 10-year-old girl in her own home because she refused to take a shower.

In a report on the incident the officer, Dustin Bradshaw, said he was called to the home, in Ozark, Arkansas, on November 11 because of a domestic disturbance.

He said when he arrived the girl was curled up on the floor, screaming, and resisting as her mother tried to get her in the shower before bed.

"Her mother told me to take her if I needed to," the officer wrote.

But he said the girl was violent and combative when he tried to take her into custody, so he delivered "a very brief" touch of a stun gun to her back, Britain's Daily Telegraph reports.

He said the mother gave him permission to use the Taser.

Ozark Mayor Vernon McDaniel says the girl wasn't injured and is now at a youth shelter.

But Mr McDaniel said he wanted the state police or the FBI to investigate the incident.

The girl's father, Anthony Medlock, who is divorced from her mother, said the girl showed signs of emotional problems but did not deserve to be "treated like an animal", according to the Daily Telegraph.

He said: "Ten years old and they shot electricity through her body, and I want to know how the heck in God's green earth can they get away with this. "

saw that today. what sort of a dumb ass would taze a 10 year old girl for a domestic dispute.

to think he has a gun as well is a scary thought.

This happened in Ozark, Arkansas? I thought you just get the hose out, or throw them in the trough,.....

Maybe it wasn't Saturday night

Defer to location......Calling a female officer for back up, and trying to "diffuse" and calm down a tense situation isn't in the manual.

a kid throws a tantrum and she gets taserd?

whenever i acted up when i was a kid it was "do you want me to take you outside boy?"

"no sir, because outside there are no witnesses.  ;D"

and i tell you i was good for the rest of my child hood days.  ;)

It's better that he used the taser, His other choices were a club and a gun.
Some folks just CAN"T be satisfied. The undisciplined grubby little monster he whelped didn't get shot or clubbed (which is closer to what she needs ) and he's still complaining.
Besides, the mother gave permission, the Father is just looking for a pay day.

I'm glad they didn't have tasers when I was a kid.  :-\

Momma had to settle for either a fly-flap or an aluminum yard-stick......   ;)

Let's face it - most kids need to be tasered once in awhile.

Another classic case of Law Enforcement being called in to be "Parents"  Why can't people just beat their own kids anymore.  Beat'em young, Beat'em often.  While doing my 8 year tour with the sheriff's office i got to know some of the DHS workers in the area and they often said there was a difference between beating/ abuse and Discipline.  I do think the Officer wasn't thinking clearly when he decided to use a taser though.

when i worked law enforcement(5 years) i got so tired of calls like these i started to tell the parents there was no law prohibiting them from spanking their children as long as it was reasonable

I was not there, so I won't pass judgment.  I've seen kids do great acts of violance against adults and other children.

Whats also sad is seeing how it was a girl, if he would have attempted to restrian her, and accidental hurt her, even if its something minor or touched her in a "private place".  He would get in deep trouble.

lets just say for a second that the girl is trying to attack some one and he grabs her under her arms, picks her up and restrains her.  If while she is kicking and fighting him his hand slips and touchs her breast.   There is a chance, he will be called a pervert and have a complaint filed against him.  Its a sad reality that even a accident or a harmless touch, can get you in deep shit.

when I was working for a industrial painter I had a sexual harssment complaint filed against me.  there was a women "safety" officer there, she was right next to a crew of guys with jack hammers.  every one had doubled up hearing protection.  Well she was in the way of our man basket, so I put my hands on her arm and gave her a slight nuge to have her move.  2 weeks came buy and the report said I touched her in a "bad way"... come to find out it was about the 15th complaint that year.  every thing from guys telling dirty jokes to "sexual" comments.  its a construction site full of iron workers, laborers and journeymen...

its a construction site for god sake, if you don't hear atleast 10 dirty jokes a day, its time to get your hearing checked.    ;D

It is same old thing police always see. A dumb ass parent that does not have the skills to adjust little timmys attitude. These are the same people that want to have their welfare check right now. They want the government to instill the family values into little timmy. They are too lazy to go get a hickory switch and tan that fanny.

I always say that most of the world's problems either come from not hitting kids enough or too much.  Got to find that balance, but I think the taser is a bit much when a good ass whippin' would have sufficed.

Parents should soon own the entire county (after the law suit).  Tasers are tested and intended for use on adult size bodies.  Not little girls half that size.   ::)  F'n copes  >:( >:( >:(.  I've never seen one "Protect or Serve" a dam* thing but themselves.  What a tough guy.  ::)

We didn't have tasers or tear gas or domestic issues when I was a kid with my 3 brothers and sister. We had a mom with a canoe paddle and a dad with a belt.

Maybe if this kid had a mom AND a dad, she won't be "unruly". Now that she is a "ward" of the state, she is truly fV<ked.

I'd like to take the taser and use it on that stupid bitch of a mother... She needs it if she can't deal with a 10 yr old girl..........
Then take it out and tap it on the dumb ass cops back.. just for sport..........hell maybe I'll just set it on high and lay it there for awhile..
((Cause thats just the kind of gal I am))  :)

"Lady(used loosely), what law did your little bundle of joy break? Why is this a law enforcement problem?

If you want to get a court order to have the girl committed, we'll be back them."

Stupid officer for even getting involved. Stupid dispatch for sending the officer.

My mother had an old ping-pong paddle that she removed the padding from, and then drilled holes in the swatting surface to cut down on wind resistance.

While I don't think this girl should have been tasered, as a former LEO I'd like to offer up a hearty "UP YOUR'S" for the remainder of your comment.    ;D

To agree with a previous member I will say I was'nt there. I have been however to a domestic dispute involving a 14 year old taller than me and of good center of gravity. ( I am 5'9") I can see why it sounds outragious. I agree but until we are there we truly cant lay out a game plan that is 100% effective.
