Sig P6 (P225) Has anyone purchased one?
« on: June 03, 2010, 11:11:05 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has purchased one of the Sig P6's that Century is importing and distributing? They are supposed to be German police trade-ins and are selling for $349.00.

I placed an order today for 6 of them through my FFL and will keep the best one for myself. My co-workers are getting the other 5 (hopefully) as I had to prepay the FFL so he wouldn't get stuck with them.

What should I look for? Do they have any weak points or particular issues? Are there any decent aftermarket mags for them?

Thanks in advance,

David

Weak points? In a Sig? Maybe in a parallel universe, but not here!!   ;D

Look for bore and barrel wear, damage to the crown, and excessive wear near the ejector. My guess, tho, is that you will see more holster wear than firing wear.

Congrats, you should be very happy with the P6.

My future son-in-law paid well over 600 for his last year.  Great little gun though, shoots like a dream and it's marked 1976 on the slide.  Not bad for a nearly 40 year old handgun.  I think they're all single stack and difficult to find mags for.  I can check with him tonight.

I think MB might have some words of wisdom when it comes to the P225.

The P6's I have handled...and there have been a BUNCH...have an UNGODLY stiff DA trigger stroke.  I do mean UNHOLY...the upside though is that they are rock-solid, Sig reliable, and can be easily smoothed out with a set of Wolff springs and the attention of a good 'smith.

I bought one a year or so ago for sub-$300 with 3 mags.  I spent another $100 or so on a trigger job.  Then my wife stole it from me.

Anyone want a slightly used wife with average miles and all her original equipment?  No, the guns don't go with her.
God bless, and sincere thanks to all our fine people in uniform.  You pay for our freedom, and for that we owe you all we can give you.  Thank you.

For a man who just got out of the hospital, you do seem to have a strange desire to go back in! ;D

The Sig P6's arrived today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They all have 2 mags, holster and mag pouches.

I ended up ordering 8 of them so I picked the best of the litter for myself. .  There was one stand out that looked almost new condition so I put my name on that one. I'm hoping it doesn't have issues and thats why it hadn't been carried.

The other seven of them looked pretty much the same with slight holster wear and really good internals.

I have takers for 6 of the other 7 remaining guns. The one left over after my friends have picked theirs is also going to be mine. I'll  pick it up next month (1 handgun purchase per 30 day period). That will give me 4 mags and a spare Sig.

It should work out good because I'll get the best one and the worse one of the bunch and it gives the last person to show up at the FFL at least 2 guns to choose from so they shouldn't feel like they got stuck with the worse one.
