Man dies after jumping from moving truck
Allegedly trying to claim insurance
Truck travelling at around 80km/h
A TEXAS truck driver who died when he jumped from his moving vehicle may have been trying to claim insurance, police said.
Police said the 26-year-old man died of head injuries when he leaped from the moving truck before it jumped the curb and smashed into a freeway bridge support around 2am (local time) near downtown Houston.
His business partner, who was following the truck, told investigators the victim jumped out of it as part of a plan to wreck the vehicle and collect insurance money.
The man said the truck was travelling about 80km/h when it struck the curb, then hit the bridge support.
He said he managed to park his vehicle, run after the truck as it slowly rolled along the street, climb up to the wheel and stop the truck himself.
Houston police detectives are investigating the truckie's death.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

The REAL Darwin award winner is the business partner. Forget the idiot who jumped, that's just poor planning. The jackass who said, "Yes officer, I was part of conspiacy to commit insurance fraud, endanger public safety (bridge abutment), and if you're real, real lucky, oh yeah, you just pled guilty to felony homicide. Guess what, you're in Harris county Tx. The one COUNTY in the US that has had more death penalty convictions than all the the rest of the states (Texas included) combined. Hello? Right answer, "I was following behind him and the crazy SOB jumped out. I figured it was a problem with the truck, but he has been a bit down and agitated lately"? How hard was that? Now, Einstein is looking at the real possibility of life or worse. THAT is a Darwin candidate.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

I wouldn't have thought landing on his head would hurt a brainless twit like this cat.

80kph is 50 mph.

And yes, you have to die to be a Darwin winner.  The "business partner" hasn't qualified..........yet.
