Disagreeing again.  Alf's ROT:  Rimmed cartridges don't do very well through autoloaders.

But hey, who the heck is this "Alf" fellow and what does he know anyway?  He's wrong half the time and the other have he's not right.

 ;)

ROT = Rule of Thumb.  Not an absolute but a generalization.  Exceptions abound.

That is the "common knowledge" of the industry. I have heard some unfortunate things about the .17 HMR in autos though:

I do think it is a splendid round, but the .22 WMR and it are so close it is six one way and a half-dozen the other...
