The hammerless M85 Taurus 38 snub I have is as simple as can be. The Charter should be no different. The right holster, and finding the sweet spot with the sights should make it a good pistol. +P's are pretty beefy on recoil, but I doubt it would matter in an SD scenario. I did change the factory grips out for slightly longer Hogue's.
If the grips work for you, that's great;, if not, there are many different ones out there.
