A follow up and query. I reccomended an eotech for your new toy vs glass. I am stupidly in love with the one on my AR. (In fact I love the optic more than the rifle, which is sad, but the thing just works :-\). Anyhoo, will an optic like an eo-tech or a triicon etc. work with a big boomer like a 45-70, particularly with a lever set up, but also with the additional movement? Just curious if they're set up for the recoil.

I agree that I love the EoTech concept and have one myself...something wrong with the aesthetic though to me of the shape of the scope.  An Aimpoint T1 seems link it blends in with the lines.

Nice catch, +1 for the Aimpoint, but big bucks, I have a comp m2 and a c3 aimpoint, both are 10k hr battery life, Me like a lot. Easier to find the military models used at decent prices, 350 to 500 bucks.

They've got a Freedom Arms .50 cal revolver, and a dozen other heavy hitters they mount the sights on and beat the poop out of them for testing purposes.  When I asked how they held up they told me eventually the sights fail, but every optic eventually will.  It's just a matter of time.  I forget how many firings the Eotech's took, but it was comparable to some of the most expensive competitors they had tried.

They also have a machine that simulates recoil and just beats the crap out of test sights all day.  The "thumper" as they call it.  ;)
