Bolt Bounce On Ruger Mark II Pistol (Slo-Mo)

Check out how much the bolt bounces when it returns to battery on this Ruger Mark II .22 Pistol, in this high speed, super slo-mo video. I wonder if it's bouncing off the back of the round, or off the breech face of the barrel? I've never had, or heard of a Ruger Mark pistol going full auto. I'm guessing, but I would imagine all blow back .22 auto loaders be they rifle or pistol do much the same thing.  Bill T.

I wonder what happened to the front sight.

I noticed that as well. It looks like it was removed, not broken. Looks like there is some type of replacement on the rear like a Ghost Ring set up.

Granted, it's a mark III , not exactly the same as the one in the video. but I would say, based on comparison, that the front sight was removed, not broken and the rear sight, (can't make out the logo on the side ) is an after market type.

Some one with better eyes or computer skills will probably pick out details I missed.

That's the only knock I have against my MKII.
The front sight eats holsters. With the undercut to reduce glare and the sharp edge it's hell on holsters, flesh, paint, etc.
On this gun the rear is so high at first I thought it was to account for the new lower front, but that's backwards...it would only raise the impact higher.

Does anyone make a ramp sight for the Ruger MK's similar to a S&W revolver? Cutting off the sharp edge would lower the sight height.

Neat video. In the comments section someone thought they saw 'brass flakes' coming out with the ejection of the spent case. I think it's just unburned powder flakes. Notorious with 22's.

I've seen that video before..
I'd guess the owner was in the middle of making a new front sight as his new adjustable rear sight made the front too short..

Cool video!! I hope my MKIIs bolt doesn't bounce like that..
Maybe it needs a new recoil spring assembly??
Could be they all do that??

Enjoy!!

They probably all do it since there is no locking of the bolt in blowback operation.

What Tom said.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.
