Question For Those Familiar With Militec-1

So as a "freebie" after the purchase of my S&W 6904, this past weekend, the owner threw in a small bottle of Militec-1, Synthetic Metal Conditioner. "Dry Impregnated Lubrication".

Directions: Apply a very thin film to all metal surfaces. Fire or heat to operating temperature. Reapply, fire again. After the third application, relubricate every 1-2 thousand rounds. Wipe completely dry to avoid sand and dust contamination.

***Question(s):

1) Really?
2) Can I use a heat gun to achieve temperature? What exactly is "operating temperature?"
3) Will using Hoppe's #9 to clean after range time effect this?
4) 1-2 thousand rounds before lubricating again?
5) Really?
6) Is this for real?

Any tips, advice, personal experiences are greatly appreciated. I am a CLP, and Regular Rem Oil, standard gun oil kinda user. Is this the latest greatest?

I have a buddy that swears by it, its pretty expensive though.  He did put it on my pocket knife a few times, he's kinda a knife freak more than a gun guy.  But it didnt convert me or anything, it's oil.  I still use clp, have used rem oil since I was a kid.  It's a good freebie though, I wouldn't throw it away.

Militec is great stuff.  The gun shop & range I work at uses it on all of our 100+ range guns.  I use it on all my guns.  All of the guys who work there who have spent time in both Iraq and Afghanistan swear by the stuff.  One of our guys getting ready to deploy picked up a 16 oz bottle to take along.

I suppose you can try heating your guns up with a heat gun but it is more fun to shoot them.  Between major cleaning just use a bore-snake on the barrels/cylinders after every shooting session.  If you feel you must lube the barrel put some Militec on the tail of the bore-snake.

You reminded me that I have a couple of bottles of Militec around here.
Now that I have extra time on my hands I just may go through what I thought was a rather different and lengthy application procedure.

Trouble is, how do you tell it's not working unless you gall something? I've been pretty happy with Tetra products or CLP for everything from AZ summers to MN winters.
