As for the other comment you didn't like, the average home owner doesn't spend a lot of time practicing, the idea that if they can not shoot like Annie Oakley they are not out of the game offers a lot of comfort.
And don't come back with that BS about "they should practice". Yes they should, but most will not, they will buy a pistol, try it out once or twice, then put it in the night stand until that one time they need it.
I agree completely. Ever wonder how the cops can fire 30 or 40 rounds at some dirtbag and only hit him 3 or 4 times? It's an ugly little thing called adrenaline, and trust me when I tell you that when it kicks in during a "serious social encounter" it has the tendency to turn your arm into licorice. And the number of times you go to the range will only have a MINOR effect in controlling that problem.
