I had researched this story a while back, but the 10 rules are the main thing. My dogs are an essential part of my life. I think they get more important the older I get. My dogs all came from a rescue. Two of them came to me as senior dogs. Many/most folks want to adopt young dogs or pups. Can't blame anyone for that. But, if you have ever given an older dog a loving home for their final years, however few they may be, you will be humbled by the experience.

Edited to add: The dog on my right in the picture with her head in my lap passed away a month after this picture was taken at age 12. Her headstone is in one of our pastures alongside another of my previous best dogs.
