Gee, Romney turned down Newt's invitation to Lincoln-Douglas debates also....

and Newt, is answering every question....No spin, No BS, and pointing to the fallacy of current policies, and BHO's ineptness to solve anything.

"Larger portion of control should be given back to the States, 10th Amendment, and SHRINK FEDERAL INFLUENCE!!!!"

References Judge Barry barring GOD in reference to Graduation Ceremonies, and citing the SCOTUS Ruling of 1802, relegating Presidential Authority usurping Congressional Process.

Favorite Founding Father.

Without George Washington, there would be no United States...He returned to Mt. Vernon, for one week after 8 years in the field, and reluctantly returned to Washington after pleading from the Congress. It's time to return to such dedication to Country.

I don't see another candidate with a perspective similar to keeping a "role of gov't" that should be minimized in the daily activities of its citizenry.

Gee, what a concept.

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

I love Newt when he's in the zone, hate him when he's on the bench with Nancy "Suprised" Pelosi or any of the other idiodic things he's done.  Dammit!

Still he's better than Mitt "my hairs better than John Edwards" Romney as are the rest of those running for everything above dog catcher.
He who dares wins.  SAS

I guess I'm surprising myself, TW. I didn't see it quite that way..
His thoughts on immigration and legalization based on the old Draft Board is begging for lawsuits on the basis of (un)equal protection.. If taken to it's logical (typical) conclusion, they'll all move to the SW, vouch for each other and do what the PLO wants on "Right of Return" and just vote themselves a state or two.. Bad flowers will bloom with that approach..
Sounds synical, huh...

Sounds synical, huh...

and hypothetical,,,,, States like AZ, already passed stiffer immigration laws, and are being sued for doing so by the current admin.

As long as they are "illegal" they don't have too much of a leg to stand on....

There is no "right of return".

Hypothetical,yes.. Mixed geopolitical metahpors, yes..
I just don't see the ACLU or LaRaza disbanding and their agendas going away just because we begin to take tangible, first steps against it. (I know you don't have years of listening to me harp but I've advocated for Newt for Pres for five years now.) I just don't want to jump head long into the belief that just because we want to do right, that right will prevail, (without blood in the streets, first).
As for the reference to the Right of Return, I can't think of a negotiation where anybody in the world on our side of any aisle led with a concession ever got anything more than McCain ever got with any piece of legislation with his name on it. I do realize that the Draft Board process is a second tier priority to SECURING THE BORDER, but I've watched Newt for as many years as you have. When he begins with a take no prisoners attitude, he does just fine, but when he begins with compromise with the left, he gets kicked to the curb by the ambassadors of the left that he chooses to negotiate with..
I love Newt, but Newt is a hard headed, arrogant ass, just like me.. Any observer willing to go back 20 years and study him knows just where to kick him so that he falls back to a defensive position. He knows it too. That's why is makes clear that he isn't asking us to stand "for" but "with" him. This is why I get concerned about the beginnings of the process, after the initial 500 or so Executive Orders. What's more is that the same process that we have to use to help him to succeed is the same process that we have to use to restrain him.. That process hasn't been terribly effective of late.. Nobody wanted Obama Care, did they.. It passed anyway..
I hear what he says about internationalism. He sounds like Perry. It's great!! It's what we have to do to survive as the nation we were founded as.. I just don't know if he can remember that going forward.

We're on the same side here. Please understand where I'm coming from though.. If I don't give voice to the things that I have every reason to expect could go wrong, should he get lost, it's my fault as much as it is his for him going astray..
This, btw, is why I gravitate toward historians.. (I'd still draft David Barton if I knew how to do it..)
I've read, at least your recent posts here.. We seem to want the same things here. Don't go to war with me yet.. Let's win, first..

PS. I'm in Alabama.. They're suing us too.. It's been an interesting internal discussion here.. I just listened to a sad sack lament on the radio for half an hour about "But what about love?"..
I need to get ready for Church.. Good morning.. If I remember it, I want to start a thread about what we can really do with the promises made on the trail..

No war santahog, we have far too much in common. We also both share the same wary disgust with all politicians from both parties, and know the real crises this Country is facing.

Here's the kicker, IMHO, If Newt gets the "people" behind him, (yes We The People), the Libs and RINO's will cave to save their own ass. BHO was supposed to do this, but failed and left us even more divided. Newt is a good enough communicator to even reach the useful idiots, and the MSM is already a known Left propaganda tool.

Moreover,

The 2012 election is also not just a POTUS election. There are more House and Senate seats that will be up, and if Harry Reid gets relegated to MINORITY Leader, and, let's face it, the House will stay a Republican Majority, than even if BHO is re-elected, a Republican majority in BOTH houses will render him impotent, except for Executive Orders, but that may face impeachment proceedings as We The People Will Demand It.

The establishment RINO's need to understand that being a "moderate" gets nowhere with Libs. Some RINO's were weeded out during the 2010 mid terms, and folks are remembering who needs to go this time around in 2012.

You will see Arizona and New Mexico embrace border reinforcement, California, not so much..... But times they are a changin' and it will be for the better, or for the worse.

This time it's too important. Who will drill baby drill, get the Keystone Pipeline off the shelve that BHO put it on for another year, and actually offer a plan. People change. Newt, IMHO, is not as moderate as portrayed. He spoke at enough NRA Conventions, and mingled with some pretty pissed off voters, like me, when I met him briefly in Charlotte. Plus he hangs out with Uncle Ted Nugent on occasion....

All the better.
