Deepwater, as you know, we are doing the "southern route" at the moment.  Right now we are outside Fort Stockton, TX and it is 55 F.  Of course, it's the crack of o'dark-thirty, so it should be cool.  We have come through a lot of rain--something they rarely see in TX, but there's a load of it this trip.  

If you see a large RV attached to a red JEEP sitting alongside the road, broke down, or in flames, it's likely us.  Stop in for a drink or a wrist-slitting party or something.  This has been a heckuva trip thus far.

And Tom, glad you enjoyed the snubby.  I think it's a fantastic carry piece, but it bites my middle-finger second knuckle so hard I can't enjoy shooting the thing.  It's been at least 6-months since I had it at the range and the finger is still a bit sore.  Fortunately,I have its bigger brother and it's different enough that it makes shooting sheer joy.

Crusader

Ah, Ft. Stockton, home of the world's largest road runner and some ok Mexican food. If you haven't already done it, swing south into Big Bend National Park. Its worth a day or two. There are some nice hot springs and the Chisos Mts. (where the campground animal is a pack of javelinas :o). Continuing west you'll pass through Terlingua, where at a campground on the South side of the road (spacing on the name, but it will come to me, or just ask around, there are like 30 people in the whole town) you will find the worlds coolest bar La Kiva. It serves the best TX. style chile on the planet, but let me assure it is not for the faint of heart, and the bastards charge $1 for extra tortillas. ;). Its built into a cave basically, and has this great underground feel. It also has pay showers and they'll let you take a beer back, heaven after a day of white water or mountain biking.  Well worth a stop.

I'll say this Timothy, bottom line,....There are truly good folks here at DRTV. Folks I welcomed into my home, and folks that would do the same for me.

Folks here that would stand a post, have your back, and not let you down.

That is something rare nowadays. As proud infidels, we ate bacon, smoked cigars, and destroyed bowling pins at the range. I'm raiding Ft. Hazcat next time.

Deepwater, Las Cruces was 44 when we awoke yesterday morning.  Some light rain through New Mexico, but  not bad.  Weather looks like it'll clear over the next couple of days.  South AZ was warmer but lots of wind.

Quaker, I tried to get a pic of your Ft. Stockton road runner as we drove past, but wasn't quick enough with the camera.  It was all decked out in a red jacket trimmed in white and was wearing a red hat.  Made me laugh.  Saw his near-identical twin cousin coming out of Las Cruces overlooking a rest stop you can only get to if your traveling east on 10.  Same sort of artistic sculpture and approximately the same height.

Bunny and I have made it to Arizona where we will spend Christmas with sis and b-i-l, Dad and Mom, and niece and nephew.  On the 27th we head for California to oversee the birth of first granddaughter.  Cool.

we have to make our own to stay in the black.  ;D homebrew beer is much cheaper, and much better.
