Thanks Everyone for you advice and assistance.

I'll get the information to my friend and do what I can to encourage her to follow through.

Need to start by convincing her to consider getting a weapon better suited to her needs.  Maybe give it to her younger and stronger daughter, then they can learn as a team and both have protection.
