Quote
TAMPA, Fla. –  Gov. Rick Scott has refused a request to prohibit the carrying of guns in downtown Tampa during the Republican National Convention this summer.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn had written to Scott asking for an executive order that would override state and federal laws allowing people with concealed weapons permits to carry firearms. He and other officials are worried about people toting guns in such a politically charged atmosphere.

But in a letter dated Tuesday, Scott said banning guns in all of downtown would infringe on citizens' constitutionally protected rights to legally arm themselves.

Scott wrote that "it is unclear how disarming law-abiding citizens would better protect them from the dangers and threats posed by those who would flout the law."

And someone gets it right!
Good for you Sir. Good for us.

I like that......
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

I think this was posted here before in the Politics section, but the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (host of the DNC convention) anti's, are also trying to get LAWFUL gun owners "temporarily banned" from carrying outside the Convention Center....

The CC in Charlotte, as posted during the NRA Conv. of 2010, is City owned, therefore NOT inside, but outside is Okee-Dokee... ::)

and guess what?,....NC is also an open carry state, and they can't get that blocked either.....

Yet the thugs, OWS crowd if hell bent on violence, proceed with no restrictions.....to an unarmed civilian law abiding populace.,

Kinda dumb when you think about it....

It's worth noting that the Jews of the Warsaw ghetto held out longer than either Poland or France, and they started with less than a dozen mixed guns and about 100 rounds.
