Feds to launch Secure Communities program in Mass.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has notified state officials that they plan to launch the federal Secure Communities program in Massachusetts over the objections of Gov. Deval Patrick and immigration activists.

Massachusetts Public Safety Secretary Mary Beth Heffernan described Secure Communities as an information sharing program between federal agencies that can only be implemented by the federal government.

Heffernan said the program will have no practical effect on how Massachusetts handles fingerprints and information sharing. She said the state already sends all fingerprints to the federal government and that practice will continue.

Patrick has opposed the program saying it runs a serious risk of ethnic profiling and fracturing important relationships necessary for law enforcement

Supporters, including U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, say the program is important to help identify illegal immigrants arrested for crimes.

This ought to really piss off the Governor!  He relies on these people for political support!

Nice news story that does a wonderful job of not giving facts of the program (where is the sarcasm dude to post here).

I actually wonder why anybody would have an issue with the same crosschecks that happen for so many other checks to be applied here.

     Maybe 2 different things, but, this program would ensure that a State provides info on Illegal persons to the federal Gov't so that the Fed's can do their job.

     Then why is the Fed Gov't protesting the State of Arizona from arresting Illegals in it's State because the Fed is not doing it's job there?

My take is that this program only really applies to illegal immigrants who are breaking laws!  (sarcasm)

Being here illegally is against the law, apparently, there are differing levels of crime!  Those that are only a little bit illegal are otherwise ignored.....(sarcasm again)

Because it unfairly targets a large voting block of unregistered, illegal voters that the Democraps rely on for support!  (truth)
