My darling and long suffering wife has it in her head that she wants to learn to do twirlng tricks with a SAA type revolver - got to encourage that sort of thing I suppose - what sort of 'dummy' pistols (for her initial effforts) are available?

Google "colt saa non firing replica" and several links show up. Here's one of them. http://gunsofold.com/old_west_pistols.html

Let me check later today.  Decades ago, fearing political correctness run amok, my wife bought half-a-dozen SAA style cap guns for the boys.  We actually never used them and they're in storage somewhere.   If I can find them I'll send you one.   It may not be the best alternative, but a free one to try.

And if money's no object there are three for auction at the end of the month, though I'm thinking of bidding on these, but hey if you need them worse, could you sell me the .45colt one?

thanks for the input guys, she wants to start with plastic/rubber revolver before graduating to anything heavier (may save her pedicured toenails I guess  :) ) so the airsoft suggestion may be along the right lines. I'll get her to check out BassPro next time she's in San Antone.

Has she considered that the weight difference between replica and real may cause her problems ?

Mean while, here's a goal for her to aim at.

Hadn't saw that in a long time......and what is considerable is the fact that he isn't using the 'normal' short barreled version of the SAA.

Here is the link to the Rings blue gun homepage, they have colored models also. You should also be able to buy them so they are weighted like the real thing, not sure how accurate the weight is though.
