Just an historical note, the "mandatory carry" is not an exaggeration.
Until at least the 1750's Colonists in this region were REQUIRED to bring their arms to church on Sundays for 2 reasons.
1) They might not survive the trip if they didn't.
2) That was where the local Militia Leaders held weapons inspections.
