Dear Mr. Security Agent,

Federal, state, or local. You, the man or woman with the badge, the sworn LEO or FLEA and those who inhabit the many law enforcement niches in between and on all sides. This essay is directed to you, because in the end, how this turmoil about gun control turns out will depend largely upon your decisions and actions over the coming months and years.

I sincerely wish that members of Congress—who may soon be voting on new gun control measures—would read this essay, but I realize that’s a pipe dream, considering the impenetrable bubbles around those exalted entities. So I’ll settle for you, Mr. (or Ms.) Security Agent, since you already gobble up everything on the internet, and I don’t have to seek you out.

A decade ago I wrote the novel Enemies Foreign and Domestic, a tale about how tragic events involving the misuse of firearms can be used by an evil administration to misinform and mold public opinion to support its malign anti-freedom policies.

Hard to hear what is being said in this article because of all the baaaahhh-ing all around me.  Everybody seems to be unsure which boxcar they should stand beside.

Anyone familiar with the book The Antagonists or any of the film/TV Mini-series Masada?

It is a story about Jewish defense of the Masada Citadel against the Roman Legions in AD 73.

The fortress was atop what sounds like a butte and the only way the Romans could gain entrance was to build a ramp up to it..the existing passageways were able to be defended.

The Romans had trouble building the ramp because the Jewish archers made dog meat of them from above, even when shielded.

The Roman solution was to use captured Jews to build the ramp.  The defending Jews would not kill other Jews, even though they were aiding the enemy.  In the story, the defenders often wondered why the captured Jews were working for the Romans to help over throw the defenders....but still refused to kill them as they worked on the ramp.

The siege ended when the ramp was complete and the Romans were able to enter the fortress....only to find that the entire complement of defenders, men woman and children were dead...preferring death to capture and enslavement by the Romans.
