Thanks again. The show remains the download I will not forget before leaving the house on Wednesday mornings. The constant quest to fill my drivetime with information, each podcast, the next stepping stone in my well rounded day.
A few topics I wanted to touch upon, the first being .22 ammo. I was one that thought ahead. Having been through crisis growing up in California, and coming of age in 1989. I fought the first wave of gun bans in my lifetime beinging at the tender age of 17. My, "Steady as she goes" method of gun, magazine, and ammo buying has worked well, especially with .22s.
I have a Wal Mart 4 miles away here in rural Nevada. The minimum wage Gods of the sporting goods section have those visiting the great ammo alter, set on a Pavlovian rythym. New ammo that is received is set out at 7am generally, with a two box limit regardless of caliber.
.22 gets gobbled up pretty fast. Like I said, I have plenty, but I like to replenish what I have shot as to not break into my supply.
While so many were of their own lack of vision, finding themselves flat-footed in the ammo department, and upset that there is very little .22 ammo to buy, I step back with a smile. I feel great that people are buying up everything set out. It means that people are interested in shooting, defense, or whatever reason. I would be concerned, in this political climate, if people were not buying ammo with such fury. Gun owners, even when restricted to 2 boxes each, are a powerhouse. Politicians better take notice.
On the Glock 42
I am a big guy, 6'4". I have big hands. That said, I find that I teach myself to adapt to a gun. If I spend time handling it, I can make my hands get used to it. The Glock 26 for instance. I have learned to not need that pinky on the grip, and I have adapted to it just fine. My Wife has a Kahr P380, which is tiny. I have handled and shot that gun to death, almost forming a relationship with it, beyond just the familiar, adapting my hands to it. It is a superb little gun, and a true "Pocket Gun" based on its diminutive size. I shoot it very well without an issue based on its size.
When I heard that Glock was introducing 2-3 new guns, I was hoping to find a tiny pocket gun. The kind that I could carry in sweat pants while just walking around the house, or when an IWB holster was not an option. Something to fit a niche similar in size to the Kahr P380, to be an alternate pocket carry gun where I usually carry my Charter Arms "Undercover" snubbie. When the G42 was leaked I was initially jubilant. That was until I saw how big it was. More than an inch longer than the P380. Almost as big as my G26. Too big for a .380, and too feeble to replace anything I normally carry in an IWB rig. Kind of bummed. I will wait to see the G42 prior to completely closing the door on the idea, but I have a feeling that another P380 or CW380 may be in the safe before 2015. GP
