I haven't seen this discussed here but it is interesting.  There is a big movement to increase awareness to existing open carry laws and a push to get them in states without them on the books.  A lot of good info...you may be able to open carry in your state and not even know it!  Many petitions so check out your state..especially Texas, South Carolina and Florida.

In Tennessee we have a handgun carry permit, not a concealed carry permit.  We fought hard to get the concealed part removed.  We can carry openly, however there are arguments that it may or may not be a good idea.  The main reason we had the concealed part removed was to prevent prosecution for brandishing should your weapon become exposed at any time.  It has worked very well for several years.

I have seen many youtube videos of these members of the Opencarry website. I cannt say that I am impressed. They apperar to love being "victims" of Police harrassment. They argue with LEOs in a manner that makes a gun carring citizen cringe. I love being able to carry concealed and always produce my ID when asked by LEOs but for some reason they would rather argue with Police when they could produce ID and be done in a few minutes. It seems just when we have some forward momentum there is always sand in the gears. Why show the us gun-loving folk in a bad light. I know that we do not HAVE to show ID without PC but, we also dont have to hold open a door or say good morning to fellow citizens either. It just makes any situation less painfull if everybody involved is working towards resolving an issue and not making one. Just my opinion.

I don't think they love being "victims of Police harrassment."  Who would?  They know their rights and they stand up for them?  That's a problem?

The problem is giving ammunition to gun right opposers. The group in these videos show ALL of us a resistive to authority. We follow the constitution and want laws to reflect the origional words but is this the way to do it? I have no problem producing ID to satisfy Law enforcement curiosity because they will find that I have the right to carry. How does ANYONE know who is a felon or wife-beater? I think that there are appropriate times when ID should be produced and people, including bystanders need to just cooperate and not make a big deal of it. If the peson(s) were harrassed on a daily basis for carring I would see their point. I do believe that any law-abiding US citizen should be able to carry openly but this will never happen when these incidents occur. Yes they should be able to speak and declare rights, but does anyone care to listen when tensions are made higher for no reason. I'm done.
