Georgia Legislature passed a bill that allowed those 21+ with concealed carry permits to carry guns on college campuses. They excluded dormitories and sporting venues. Gov. Deal vetoed the bill because:
... this bill will allow any licensed gun owner to bring a concealed weapon onto the campus and neither police nor other law enforcement personnel will be allowed to even ask the individual to produce evidence of his license.
One way of looking at this is that law abiding citizens are not allowed to carry means of defense, but criminals are allowed to carry any weapons they choose.
This story was carried on page 1 of the Marietta Daily Journal, and on page 2, printed right behind this article, is a story about a college student killed by a thug who knew that students would be unable to defend themselves.
