This lady is originally from Cuba and learned how to cook from her mother and grandmother, who she affectionately called “Mimi.” A local guy was one the first customers there in 2021. It was a mouthwatering experience he’s been deprived of for years. He and his wife moved to the Flint area from Miami in 1996, a few years after enduring Hurricane Andrew.
“The little cafes down there were just awesome. It was just amazing,” he said of his experiences while living in Florida and indulging in the offerings of the local shops. “I would take the kids to school in the morning and coming back we would just get some fresh bread and pastries and we just really miss that. This is so amazing to finally have something up here.”
A resident of Flint for 25 years, he surprised his wife with fried croquettes among other items from Mimi’s Cuban Bakery and Café. The business reminded him of the experiences that the local cafes of Florida gave him years ago. “We really have waited a long time for this,” he said, with excitement.
If it's good enough for people from Miami, it must be good Cuban food. Not that I would know the difference. The closest I've been was eating Cuban sandwich style potato chips.

They're closed today but open 6-6, 6 days a week. The only way I'll be there at 6 am is if I need coffee.
