Smith and Wesson 4516
« on: May 28, 2007, 07:34:57 PM »
I've never paid much attention to them in the past, but I have a chance to pick up a used...and engraved 4516 45 auto with two extra mags for $450. I've been mulling going back to the 45 for some time, and this gun is a bit more compact than my 1911s, or the 45 06s or even a glock 21. Is this particular model easy to carry, reasonably accurate, or reliable? I know it's pretty much a stainless 457 with a few more bells and whistles. I'm seeking any input. Good or bad

Well, I can't comment on that particular model, but I did have a 4566.  It was 100% reliable with anything I fed it, but had the worst trigger!  The trigger kept going after the sear broke (overtravel)  and no matter how hard I tried not to, I could not help but jerk the pistol down after the sear broke.  I honestly liked the gun, other than that.  It had good sights and felt good in my hand.

IMHO the gun is awsome aslong as you can put your trigger time in. If you can hit with the gun which myself and most of my peers can then you will be very Very happy.
