1911 Thumb Safety

HELP!!!

I've been trying to locate a low profile (military series 80) safety to replace the tactical one on my Para LTC.  Can't seem to locate one anywhere.  As much as I like Colt pistols, their website sucks and I can't find a supplier of the old style safety.

Tried Wilson, Brownells, Midway, CTDirt, etc....been googling the crap out of it with no luck....

Tacticals are great for their intended use but kind of get in the way when I carry.

Thanks in advance.

Tim

I still see them turning up on eBay strangely enough, I think they are ones that were replaced with extended models.

I just checked my Brownells catalog (#60) and found these on page #28.

Safety Lock (Thumb Safety) 560-453-601AA (Blued) and 560-453-602AA (Stainless).

Try that on their website.

CDR & devzal .... thanks but I've been burned by ebay and won't go back.

Hermit...can't find other than the ambidextrous on Brownells and I can't find them by catalog no. either.  You can't download the catalog anymore.  Thanks anyway.

Tom....I'm still looking...

thanks a bunch guys...I'm trying to get Para to send me one from their GI expert line.  Maybe I'll get lucky.

Timothy, I several used ones, and would be glad to send you one, ( at no charge ) but do you know how to fit a safety, especially if it came from another pistol, and my be too small so you have to peen it back bigger, if you've done it, you know what I mean.

Thanks m25, I may take you up on that.  I've never had to fit one but I have access to a pistol smith friend of mine who can take care of the delicate work.  If you can put a vernier caliper on the post and give me a diameter, that may save us some hassle.  I'll check mine tonight and see it they would match up.

Thanks again...I'll send you a PM with the numbers.

I just went to the Brownells website, put the stock number in the box and the parts came up.

The screen takes you to a page listing 1911 parts and the saftey is shown along with other parts, you must then scroll down to the correct part which is marked by a triangle.

But free is better anyway.  :)
