Mr.Bane,
For over a decade, my favorite ranch/truck gun has been my home built "Black Rifle".
It is an Ishapore .308 Enfield Bolt action that I soaked in gasoline to clean off the Cosmoline. Cost as I recall $320. I fitted it with a synthetic (black) stock ($89.00) , black leather two point Garand sling($35.00), B-Square rear sight scope rail ($55.00) , Intermediate Eye Relief no name 4x Scope ($98.00) (Scope rings $35.00). Miscellaneous toploading 5 round stripper clips and extra 20 round box magazine ($25.00) (Prices subject to memory lapse correction)
For some reason it will eat Remington Corelokt 180 grain Factory Loads all day at 100 yards. From the bench on leather bags shooting at a Steyr Sight-In Target it
will literally print two out of three shots directly into the little rectangle above the point of aim. It can not be me, I am not that good of a shot.
You be the judge about what this says about surplus military rifles.
Best regards,
