Godo editorial, just a point of correction. The Washingon Post is a fine and very old newspaper, albeit a liberal anti-gun one on its editorial page. The news though, is some of the best in country. Think of it as the opposite of the Wall Street Journal, good news, conservative editorials. The Washignton Times, where this editorial comes from leans right, not just in the editorial page but also in the news. They do some good reporting....but they are also a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mooneys. The "Reverend" Sun Young Moon established the paper as a tool to push his anti-communist agenda to the DC readership back during the Cold War. I'm not saying don't read it (I Skim it daily) just understand that it is an unapolgetic propaganda  organ that does employ some decent reporters. Caveat emptor.

Good to see "some" of the press "gets it".

A Winchester, 12g pump/semi, and a couple of pistols, in the hands of a homicidal individual, can inflict mass casualties also. I hope the reality on the AWB sinks in to more people.  The rogue element  by criminals will always remain,....

I remember the North Hollywood Shootout in 1997, where the police went to pawn shops to acquire more substantial firearms, against body armored bank robbers with "real" automatic weapons. A real learning exp. for LEO's. unfortunately, the hard way.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout

I believe it was Massad Ayoob, or Col. Jeff Cooper, that said a good shooter with a Winchester, could have ended this event with head shots, as the range closed within 25 to 75 yds. Since than,  LEO's have "beefed up" what the potential of a true criminal can do in regards to their own firearms.

Phillips and Matasereanu fired over 1100 rds.  from modified AK's and AR's. The press wanted to ban everything related to firearms at that point, but cooler heads prevailed.

That is and will remain a very scary reality in our country, but I'm glad the knee-jerk reaction to ban LAWFUL citizens from having firearms will not go down quietly.

Good Article.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

These very weapons in the hands of a good guy could stop the homicidal individual.

Hell no! We dont want more guns around when a lunatic is trying to run around killing people. More guns would just increase the propensity for gun violence to occur! *Sarcasm people*
