Episode 149 self defense .22s
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:27:41 PM »
Thanks for another great show!  Your section on defense .22s was much appreciated since it helped me with your thoughts on many holes vs. one shot stop theory.  (I also agree that the best firearm for a person is the one that is chambered in the largest caliber that the person can fire accurately repeatedly.)

I also have a question for you pertaining to using single action revolver mouse guns ,or even large caliber versions, in a defensive situation.  with the mouse gun, you recommend "emptying the gun" against the attacker because a "stall" for a situation update could prove fatal to you (ie: double tap to the torso, pause to see if the guy stops, then shot to the head if still attacking);  yet when you talk about single actions for defense you suggest two shot, pause to reload and repeat.  What's best for one, two, or three different attackers?  (Assuming that they are all coming towards you from relatively the same direction and not from a surrounding circle.)

I think it's great that Gunsite did a defensive SAA revolver class.  I'd love to see them allow rimfire SAAs in future classes to help make it more affordable for us "no collar" workers.  After all, You, yourself praised the use of rimfires for practice in an episode of Shooting Gallery last year.  Seems to make perfect sense to me.
