I heard on a local radio show, the unions wanted bullet proof vests for the guards, but were too expensive.

Unless the guards wanted to purchase them on their own.

More at the link:

The union representing security guards at the Holocaust museum in Washington had been fighting for bullet-proof vests, but the company hadn't issued them at the time of Wednesday's deadly shooting.

What a tragic loss; with a vest, the guard would have stood a great chance of being here today. Especially with a .22LR
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

I had a vest that stopped a .38 special at a range of about 15 feet some 30 years ago or so.  Broke a rib, but at least it didn't perforate my perfectness.  ;D
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

How is it that the MSM can have all the details of this guy's life within MINUTES of his name being released, but we can't find out ANYTHING about our President?

They can find out that this guy has "connections with a well-known white supremacist and anti-semite", but still the media continues to poo poo the fact that Jeremiah Wright is a racist and can't seem to believe that there is more than a tenuous connection between President Obama and terrorists William Ayers and Bernadine Dorn.

Geez, until now I never realized it was possible to actually FEEL your blood pressure rising.
