Mossberg 930 spx
« on: August 28, 2009, 10:21:55 PM »
Everyone:

I hope this is the correct forum for shotguns.  I have a Mossberg 930 spx that is a great shotgun however, can someone tell me if the barrel can be changed to one that can be used to learn to shoot clay pigeons.  The standard barrel is 18.5 inches and many ranges require at a barrel length of 24-inches minimum.  Any suggestions or should I just buy another shotgun?

Thanks
JFK

Barrels are not interchangeable between model numbers, gauge or
capacity. 930TM and 935TM model barrels are interchangeable only with
barrels of the same model, gauge and capacity.

BARREL REMOVAL
The action must be in the open position (bolt fully rearward). (See “To Lock The
Action Open” section.)
1. Unscrew the magazine cap (Figure 9).
2. Slide forearm forward.
3. Pull the barrel forward, free of the receiver and magazine tube.

My STRONG advice is to look for a used barrel. Gunbroker can occasionally (beileve it or not) have some deals. But for $150, I'd think about just buying a used Maverick, which shouldn't be much more. I'd go 26" for skeet and upland, or 28" if you're after ducks.

Call Williams gun sights.  Last time I was there they had a rack FULL of used barrels CHEAP.
